Very strange problem.

Post by Cochise »

Hello guys, sorry if the tittle is not okay because I don't know what to do.
I still playing Project Reality Since 2012 and it's the first time that I have a problem, and this is a big one.
The other day I get to Audio settings and change from Software and quality on Medium. To Hardware and queality to High. Later of that i open the game, enter a server normally and at the 12 % of charge... Project Reality close. I think that it was a normal crash, When I click on Play again, appear Error 1322, so i go and delete the Project Reality folder on My Documents and reset all profiles. The game start again but it crashes when the map was on 15 %. I spend almost 5 hours triying to solve this but I don't see anything. I change the settings to default, I change the audio settins, everything to how it was but nothing work. Also I dowload again the ISO and Re install Project Reality and the issue continue.
The PRLauncher.log say this:

Code: Select all

Project Reality Log File
PRLauncher.exe started at: 2016-02-26T13:16:49

Warning: Error updating video settings: Resolution: LineNotFound
Warning: Error validating video settings: TerrainQuality: -1
Warning: 1352: Error while game running.
And if I go to My Documents, Project Reality, Profiles, 0001 (My profile) All of the files are like in this Screenshoot. Image
Please help me, and sorry if something in the post is bad. I'm new on forums. And sorry for my bad english. Thanks.

I just reread your post so the whole My documents stuff isn't being created. but why I have no idea?

Check the file for any restrictions that read only in file properties could explain it I've seen a few with that problem.

I've just checked the properties of my documents folder and it has read only checked but all games write in it- strange.

Everything is fine, but when I enter to a server at some point in the charge of the map the Project Reality close and all the files get like in the screenshoot, all empty inside. It's very rare. I will try again anyways. Thanks. And if you have some others ideas about what the problem is maybe could help. :D

And the folders are with Read Only and i can't take it off. But the archives are normal, no read only.

Thanks for the name of that program I try it... Unistall, advanced scan, I delete everything and don't work. I reinstall, update, and start the game normally but it closes in the main menu after some seconds.
Here is the log.

I don't know ... have you tried to re download PR in case yours is corrupted in some way?

PR works for hundreds of others (three PCs on vista, 7 & 10 in my house!) if you really want to play reinstall OS? Are you windows 10? Have you gone back a long time in the forums to check no on else has had this or a similar issue?

I remember someone was having issues with read only but I think that was preventing files being overwritten.

It looks to me that his PC is doing just that after the point in creates them - I vote for a corrupted download that is resetting profiles as opposed to creating or updating them.

Yes, I re dowloaded it 2 more times and install in different hard drives and nothing work, I everything what I see on forums and nothing. I'm playing Project Reality for more than 4 years and is the first time that I have a problem.
And I couldn't find something relate to my problem.

Yes, I already try that but don't work. I have to do it every time, because if I don't do that the game give me the error 1322. But if I reset all profiles I can enter the game but it close a few seconds after the load of the main menu.

In the meantime I've redownloaded the PR ISO thinking my file might be corrupt, and after installing it (this time to the C drive), it won't even launch. Basically the same problem as this guy. If I'm not mistaken, .net 4.0 ships with Windows 10, so I can't do much there.
I've also redownloaded BF2 hoping that the redists installed with it could help. I'll edit the post after restarting with the results. If it doesn't work, I'll try cheating it by copying the settings files from my BF2 installation, but I'm not keeping my hopes too high.

EDIT: I've made it work!
It took an Odysey to get there, though. I had to reinstall BF2, make a singleplayer profile there, and then copy all the files from Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default to ProjectReality\Profiles\Default. Then the Launcher started, but it refused to proceed retrieving my account completely again, so I just clicked Retrieve once, and closed it. Then i copied the files from Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 to ProjectReality\Profiles\0001, except for Profile.con and mapList.con. Wasn't sure if mapList would interfere with PR, and Profile.con would change my profile in PR. Then I started up the launcher again, I could normally change all settings and play the game. Happy times. Thanks for trying to help anyway. I'll try to redirect anyone with similar problems to my solution, hopefully it helps them too.

Thanks for that, I try just like he say but don't work... The game crash when I enter to a server, or in the main menu just like every time after that day when I change the audio setting...

No one has some other idea? I been trying everything that I see and don't work... I really want to play again but also I don't want to re install my entire OS. Maybe I should just wait for a new patch?
