Controls messed up
Hello Everyone,
This is a problem that got solved for different people, but not for me so far.
The problem is that once I have joined a server or created a local one and try to select a kit to spawn in, my mouse and keyboard decide to stop working.
Things I have tried so far:
- Reinstalling PR.
- Profile reset via the launcher.
- Building a new controls.con after deleting the other one (backed it up).
- Reset control to default ingame menu. The Control page had keys binded to funtions/abilities and was NOT empty.
- Using a controls.con from someone in the forums here.
- PR.exe Administator permissions.
- PR.exe Win7 & 8(.1) compatibility mode.
None of these seems to be working for me.
A different thing that came to mind is that I changed of anti-virus software, from Norton (that never complained about PR) to Windows Defender (Didn't complain about it either).
But since both didn't complain, I don't think this would be the problem.
I gotta Battle to play soon with PDI, so I really want this working again so If you have any ideas, please share them!

Re: Controls messed up
Do you have any other games or programs running at the same time?
I remember some weird problem like this happening to everyone who had some game open a while ago.

No, just running Project Reality.
It's so weird because It ran just fine the day before.
I remember doing an Nvidia gpu driver update as well, but could that mess stuff up?
edit: I am not able to edit the Controls in the controls menu, when I want to change something, the game just freezes and after +/- 20 sec it continue's without problem, but the keys didn't change.

Re: Controls messed up
Can you check the event viewer to see what that says about the freeze.
In w10 type event into search.

Re: Controls messed up
It is not really a freeze, Windows runs in the background just fine, but PR freezes.
I found this, not sure if that is useful.
Edit: When I try to go to the folder it says, it doesn't exist, not to be found.
Edit 2: I tried to join create and join a local server on a second account, this account has the same problems.

Re: Controls messed up
Update;
I did multiple re installations of PR on different drives (HDD's & SSD's) and even
tried to go for an older version of PR, 1.3.5, but it appears the controls move over to that version
of PR as well.
I have no clue what to do or to try right now
Edit: I did an Win10 reset which fixed it, obviously.

Run in windowed mode and see if you get any error messages I guess.
Edit: Oh right. Yeah, that'd fix it.

Re: Controls messed up
But the sad part is, we will never know what the exact problem was. I think it has to be doing with Windows 10 going corrupt or something, because I am pretty sure it was not PR or the accounts/controls problem. Tried quite some things.[R-CON]LiamBai wrote:Run in windowed mode and see if you get any error messages I guess.

Re: Controls messed up
Important info on the problem, I did an GPU Driver update today for my GTX 970 gpu, the newest driver released on March 1 (version 362.00) is causing this bug.
I can't confirm this 100%, I am downloading the previous version to make sure it is causing the problem.

Re: Controls messed up
I'd keep it like that if i were you. I had to reset win 10 again, after that I updated my gpu to the third newest version for the 970, and installed PR, it is working fine know.PLODDITHANLEY wrote:I've got a GTX970 I just leave it on 352.82 seems to work fine on the games I play.

I do must add that i have only installed the driver and the Hd audio driver, not the 3d stuff and physicX or something. It seems to work fine at the moment.
I think the bug got caused by the latest version, maybe devs can look into this?

Re: Controls messed up
I am back to the problem again.
I had me pc exactly the same, I didn't touch PR for 1 day, and it is broken again now.
A thing I notice, is that when I alt-tab out of the game to close it, my mouse goes in slow-motion mode for a little time. Could this has to do with this?
I really don't wanne reset Win10 again, I rather install Win7 again.

Re: Controls messed up
I all of a sudden have the same problem... no idea whats causing it. I do not want to reset Win 10 if it didn't work for you. I've tried all graphic drivers of late that worked when I played last week and nothing. Tried different profiles, reinstalling on different drives, etc.

Re: Controls messed up
Check your updates see what came in when the problem started?
I have win10 and apart from flags vanishing I've got no problems - maybe list and identify your running processes and compare to mine and the other guy with the same problems, we must also watch your folder options for my dox.

Re: Controls messed up
Interesting enough if you have any kind of controller plugged into your computer, unplug it. I unplugged my xbox one controller which I use for other games and never had a problem with PR and now it works...we'll see what tomorrow brings because you never know with this game lol
