Controller/Joystick Support Troubleshooting

Having perused the forum, I'm seeing a good amount of people having the same issue I am. I believe this is specific to Windows 10, but not 100% sure. Basically, the USB ports spaz out and lock the cursor to the center of the screen starting at the squad select menu if a controller is plugged in. I play on a laptop, and the only thing hindering me playing this game to its full extent is this issue, as I find it more comfortable to use a controller in general, and the trackpad locks if I hold a key down at the same time, making game play totally unwieldy, if not impossible. Anyone know of a way to get around it or to mitigate this? If not, would the logic of the USB ports issue also apply to a USB mouse?
