Agreed, it would be smart to make that variant from the existing model.I think Devs are upto something! may be a M10 wolverine or M18 hellcat

It depends on what Sherman Model they already have. The US Army used these basic models with various modifications:Mr.VdHeide wrote:The M4A1 76(W) as seen on the photo I posted has a high velocity cannon as well (the same as on an M4A3E8 afaik). However for an M4A3E8 one would have to model a complete new tank while for a M4A1 76(W) just a new turret + cannon and some details on the hull.
M4
M4A1 (You can tell this apart by the rounded hull, different production method)
M4A3
M4A2 was Diesel Powered and used by Marines and Russians
M4A4 was used by Great Britain
Initially all these models came with a low velocity 75mm gun. As the battle for Normandy progressed, M4A1s were upgraded with the 76mm gun, which had better performance against tanks, but these were usually in the minority until late in 1944.
The M4A3 was also upgraded, but after Normandy. The M4A3E8 (Easy Eight) was also based on the M4A3 hull, but the main difference was an improved suspension. Hence "Easy Eight", because it was a smooth ride. The armor was not significantly improved.

The end goal is integration with PR. Still a ton of things to do to get that to happen, but it will be similar to how Vietnam integrated from mod to core.

PR player rule #69
never get your hopes up, DEVs usually lie when it comes to time
my question for today is: when will we get the tools to play with the PRww2 models etc in BF2editor? so the community can start making maps.
also looking around in the beta files i found several cool files...
bagpipes ( sound worked, but no model spawned on all 3 maps)
and _night kits (officers get signal flare)
so... what night map are you guys making... and how dark will it be? eye candy please.

The beta == the tools you need to make stuff for PR:WW2
.
The bagpipes thing isn't a real model, it's invisible. This was mostly used during the Alpha and back when it was still called Project Normandy.
The _night kits aren't used atm and nothing is planned for them.

From left to right:Rabbit wrote:
M4A3/75 (late production variant)
M4A3/75 with wading gear
M4A3 with some kind of flamethrower (might be fantasy, afaik only M4A2s used by the Marines had flamethrowers in the turret and the flamethrower tanks used in the European theater (all post normandy) had the flamethrowers in the hull)
M4A3/105 (Assault gun version with 105mm howitzer)
Next one I dunno, is it the first one again? Does it have a slightly longer gun in the old turret? Weird.
M4A3/76

Second last one is m4a3e4 (i think). Doesn't look quite as cool as the m4a3 76(w) though

M4A3E4 is an experimental type, never heard of it.
edit: actually, I looked into it and M4A3E4 is just another name for M4A3/76, so that is not it.

I stand corrected, seems as if the 76mm gun couldn't fit in the D50878 turret.

M4A3E8 is the 76 model you're talking about, M4A3E4 was an M4A3 75 upgunned to a 76mm and with wet storage racks.Ts4EVER wrote:M4A3E4 is an experimental type, never heard of it.

No, the E8 is the Easy 8 model with the new suspension. There were no Shermans with a 76mm gun in the old turret.

There were, though;Ts4EVER wrote:No, the E8 is the Easy 8 model with the new suspension. There were no Shermans with a 76mm gun in the old turret.

These were either rearmed very late into or post war since the US wanted their Shermans to be armed with the 76mm ASAP, but most of them were sold off to other countries once they got better tanks rolling out.
