Low splash damage of the 30 mm round
The 30mm rounds in game takes the exact shot at the bottom of a bot to take effect and kill it.
This is the test footage of 25mm and 30mm rounds for the US navy
skip to 6:13 to see splash damage of the shrapnel hitting the water.
This is a general dynamics brochure for 30mm rounds and on page 2 it states that HEI round provides fragmentation and incendiary.
http://www.gd-ots.com/download/30mm%20GAU-8-A.pdf
So may be it could be that all HE rounds manufactured around the world have fragmentation effects or not.
Taking these into consideration, splash damage could be increased just a little bit in game.
Thankyou.

This is true especially for 25mm cannons, which are ridiculously underpowered in-game.

Re: Low splash damage of the 30 mm round
Not really sure how long that boat is, but it certainly is not a big one. I ll assume 15-20m length. The bullet hit in middle and shrapnel flies all the way to the sides. So 7-10m blast radius. This is similar the radius you find reported for these types of rounds. (25x137mm bushmaster has 5m). The round in video is 30x173mm which only one ground vehicle in PR fires: The Puma IFV. Other shoot 25x137 (Bushmaster), 30x165 (BMP), 30x170 (Warrior). Their splash radii are 5m, 6m, 7m, 8m accordingly (yes i was lazy setting those ).
Kill radii against infantry are then 1.875, 3.27, 4.1 and 4.8m
Those are current development values as the live ones are rather bad. Last i checked some 25mm and 30mm had same radius/damage.
Edit: Checked current values. 25mm is same as above and 30mm is usually 7m splash with 2.6m kill radius

Re: Low splash damage of the 30 mm round
This is off topic but, what about AP round(30 mm/any tank's AP shell) penetrating sheet metal walls or possibly through brick walls/house walls?
What's the possibility of this in game?
Because many a times the when there's a tank or APC and you take cover behind a brick wall or inside a house with one brick wall in between and you are invincible unless the round comes inside through the door or the window.
I can confirm AK-74 penetration through sheet metal wall placed around the Russian base at Grozny which has sheet metal walls around the eastern side which is unusual for a base(off off topic sorry).
Thank you.

No i was asking that in general, not particularly just for bots. But even then, would be good to kill bots behind the sheet metal walls.

uhn...
I don't have the game stats, but I think that HE don't have Penetration, or at least is too weak, but sometimes I got kills w/ an Warrior shooting w/ AP through a wall...

Quick question, kind of off topic.
How does the ammo-type switching work on APCs in real life? Because there is no way it can be as fast as they switch in game if it's all fed into the same barrel.

Well i know that naval guns do switch rounds quickly as they have two magazines of different rounds side by side.

That's why the kpvt takes for ever to switch, because it isn't dual fed.

No way Puma's cannon has similar values to BMP2 for example, it does not do nearly the same as the shipunov. Also, it feels as though BTR80/MTLB/BMP3 have different splash compared to BMP2 but I can't be sure.

You mean in 1.3.9?viirusiiseli wrote:No way Puma's cannon has similar values to BMP2 for example, it does not do nearly the same as the shipunov. Also, it feels as though BTR80/MTLB/BMP3 have different splash compared to BMP2 but I can't be sure.
Right now the Puma shoots 25mm for w/e reason, so yea it is way too weak.
Looked it up and BTR-80, MTLB and BMP-3 all have same values for their projectile.

Yes, but BMP-2 has 600RPM and the other only 360RPM.viirusiiseli wrote:Yeah, but I meant are BTR/MTLB/BMP3 same as BMP2?
