"Project Reality has closed. Cleaning up resources"

Post by Pyjak »

Installed the game for the first time today. It was working perfectly for some time. But now for some reason, singleplayer/offline refuses to work. Strangely enough, multiplayer works perfectly fine. As soon as I start up an offline game, I get what's stated in the title.

I've already tried a few different things stated in these forums, but nothing really solved this issue. I tried changing my resolution, nope. Refresh rate, nope. Tried deleting the "Profiles" folder, didn't work. Tried disabling my Anti-Virus, nope. :( Basically tried everything I could find but nothing worked. Also tried running in windowed mode, but again, no success :( When running in windowed mode I get this.

I've never had BF2 installed on this computer, so there's no way that's creating a problem with P.R.

The other standard repair one a computer that hasn't got games is to install visual C++, .net, and DirectX but, can you try using this offline DirectX9 installer please.

Download DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) from Official Microsoft Download Center

Thanks for the response! Tried the link you gave me, it gave me 154 cab files that I can open/unzip with WinRaR. It also came with one .exe named "DXSETUP". So obviously I ran the .exe, and it installed Dx9 I believe. Tried starting up an offline game, but again, no results :(

I also attempted to install some of the .exe's in the cab files, but they don't open anything.

Those are some examples of the cab files that don't really do anything. :-?

P.S, why would I have to install DirectX now? Even though it was working perfectly fine in the beginning??? Something's fishy here!

sorry I didn't notice it was only SP....

I don't see an offline profile in your specs. I'd like to check your offline profile settings too.

Sorry for taking a long time replying, I ended it up reinstalling PR, and singleplayer/Offline now works perfectly. But I get the feeling this is going to happen again. I made an offline account just to see if there is anything you can point out that might cause this issue again. If not, thanks for taking your time! :)

I got same issue. I ran setup. Had that error.. But everything else worked and updated. Went to click play and it started to open then did the closing and cleaning up resources. And that was it.. I even tried doing windowed mode.. I'm on windows 10. Pretty new computer.. Shouldn't have any issues with any of this. Can't figure out why it won't run.

Possible FIX. Reply to this error. I had same message pop up. When in setup mode and it ask for files location for next disk..where you click browse.. Before that I extracted files from iso into a custom made folder. Then when it asked during install for file location when it would change (disk) Since disk info is on computer I had copied/extracted it to my specific file. So go to file explorer separate from your install. Right click on one of the files like setup1bin and copy file location. They will all be linked to that folder. So copy and paste into the part where it ask for next disk location on install.. What I messed up on the first time is I only extracted the setupsbins into separate file instead of entire iso. Trying a new install now.. SO should work now.. If that makes since. ...

FIXED IT! okay after all that.... When you extracted into other folder. Even if it errors on install. Let it keep installing. After game installs. Go to your extracted files location. now go to the DEPENDENCIES folder. Open Directx folder and scroll down till you find the Setup. Run it.. Now run your game. Do the updates and hit play. Game should run now. Worked for me.
