Frustrations with Mumble... (REPOST)

Post by h8forevah »

So I recently installed PR on my lenovo laptop running windows 10 figuring the specs arent to hard and it runs great. The only issue is mumble. I can hear my squadmates talk as well as local chat, but when I try to speak, the blue/green speaker in the bottom left lights up and I can't be heard. My squadmates also claim that my name doesn't come up. My devices have been set to the default and I checked my recording devices, still no dice. My mic works in every single other game/communication software, but this and having a squad that you can't relay information to is difficult for both parties. Any help?

Also this is probably in the wrong section....

I'd like to add that I am having an identical problem with my computer, however my PC is better specced, but is also running Win 10. If anybody could help this would massively improve my ability to perform in game and my enjoyment of this game.

Check your audio in-/output, make sure they're set to your microphone and headset.

Yes ensure you have only one sound input and output active, make the others dis activated, when in game alt tab and check mumble has the right input and output selected, sometimes going from default device to whatever option you have will make it work.

I have already done this, but it continues to not work. I believe that this is a glitch to do with Windows 10, as mumble does not receive any input from my mic despite all other programs being set up in a virtually identical fashion with the same mic and still working

Is there anyway that this could be fixed without me changing my microphone?

I have win10 on two PCs I seem to remember a tickbox somewhere with something like 'let this application take control' or something.

USB mics can be troublesome, but a normal 3.5 are fine.

I have ticked the box in my settings that says "let applications take control of this device" . However mumble continues to not detect when I say anything into the microphone. In my settings it describes the microphone as USB3- ,could this make a difference to my difficulties and would a different microphone fix these problems?:

Mumble will not 'detect' your voice you have to press the button defaults numpad 0 for squad and H for local. I have seen a few with USB related problems, I've personally never used one I stick to 3.5mm.
