I didn't get to those settings yet but I most likely will.. or maybe have multiple layouts for weather(night, day or afternoon/day + snowy). those are a low priority though because I want to get the general map done first.

snowy weather will make forest combat interesting, but urban and open combat very awkward.(likewise, clear weather will make forest combat more about the trees instead of taking advantage of the snow, so the combat wouldn't be as unique and would be more of standard PR combat) so there needs to be sort of equalibrium.
Happy to hear that we will getting a layer with good visibility and view distance. :D

Also looking forward to using the Fennek to sneakily lase for CAS, utilizing the elusive extendable mast with laser designator. :D

If only there were some walls of appropriate height that the Fennek could hide behind and sneak a peak above.

here is ~1.5-2.7
i was planning a video but i kind of messed up the forests and didnt use overgrowth, so i will need to redo them
i will also need to refine a lot of the stuff so actually theres not THAT much done, im still quite new to mapping but hopefully next batch of shots will be better

i was really just experimenting with trenches and next defensive outposts will end up better

edit: forgot screenshots for airfield but will do later

I don't recall seeing any dutch F35s, only F16s.
also there were other F35s like the american ones but they weren't ever implemented because .. i forgot why.

ok i will go get the 2.7 screenshots back in order(fcking imgur) but keep in mind that i learned a lot from vdhiede yesterday and the 2.8 should be looking lots better in terms of general vegetation and enviornment.
aka, i feel like 2.7's forests look like shit

7/8/17-
V2.8
-Major improvements to forests, they should now look snowy instead of fcking vietnam and summer.
-Forests have been changed to use overgrowth instead of indivdually placed objects..
-General winter forest added, general dead forest added.
-Coastline starting at where the russian main has begun, currently traveling along some east side.
-Random villager's house NW of map has been added, may become a lumbermill later on or something
-Terrain improvements NW of map, terrain improvements around russian main.
2.8.1
-Eastern coastline has recieved a bay, most likely going to be the russian 'docks' to help give option of amphibous flanking to make fast progress when transport helicopter/ground travel isn't avaliable then rhibs would be avalible, regardless just a quick update
-Minor starts on russian main, just trying to figure out how much room will be needed

wow, now this is looking awesome!
Can you post a minimap, im curious to see the total top down picture? :)

maybe its an idea to make the soil color near the shore less nsowy and more rocky?
For example like in this picture, so its not all snow.

Make sure to ask about getting the map in game. :wink:

He is missing the bin64 folder in his pr_edit mod, did he do something wrong while setting up his pr_edit? He will need that folder to build his map.

I was only able to explain the basics since my knowledge is limmited.

Everybody only has a "bin" directory (which contains either the 32- or 64-bit launcher and stuff), it's us developers that have both in our repos, because we're using additional tools ;) .

also a very good idea about soil color and rocks, i love reference photos and ill def take that into account :)

hmm so what does this mean? should I be chilling out or trying to get the 32/64 launchers that you have? :-o

Na, just do what you do :) . Build tools aren't available outside the team afaik.

V2.9
small update mostly terrain
-Terrain improvements to NW city/village, added a mountain to it's east and created a valley to the sw, that way ground troops have more options in order to move into this location.
-frozen well nw vilge
-small terrain improvements to RU base but not as important, trying to figure out the highway/airfield space
-coastline expanded

here it is, i am not pleased with it but apparently because it's a bf2 editor and the editor wasn't built for 4km maps, the 'minimap' only captures a fraction of the center, and the rest of it it only captures 2D terrain(what you see as 'mountains' are really just textures, not actually terrain changes, but if you have an extrodinary eye you can see where I put some valleys, however it takes a reaaaaally good eye for that, they will be easier to see when I redo the textures for terrain :D )

to do the full minimap it might take some time that i'd rather do when the map is done, so i'll follow vdhiede's plan which is to take screenshots of the entire map and then place them together to get a feel.

however i won't be doing that yet because the map still needs lots of work :)

edit: also incase anyone gets the wrong idea, this is super early stage of minimap which is why it looks like **** :P
