[1.4.18] Bin folder/files issue

We got a couple of reports of players having issues with files or the complete mods/pr/bin folder getting lost during the update. Here we will try to help you resolve these issues without having to re-install everything.

1) Determining when/where the issue happened.
Did it happen during updating or after it was finished? For that check

mods/pr/mod.desc

and see what it says under

Code: Select all

<version> 1.4.18.0 </version>

If it reads 1.4.18.0, you should be on the correct version already and something failed in restoring the bin folder.
If it reads 1.4.17.0, it failed during updating and you need restart the update.

2) Replacing files
First off: Make backups of everything you are about to replace
Based on what you determined before in step 1) you need to download the correct files.

2a) Updated 1.4.18.0
If your mod.desc reads 1.4.18.0 you need the files of the patched version. Pick the ones corresponding to your system:

1.4.18.0 x86
1.4.18.0 x64

2b) Failed during update (still on 1.4.17.0)
If you mod.desc reads 1.4.17.0 you need the files of the old version. Pick the ones corresponding to your system:

1.4.17.0 x86
1.4.17.0 x64

Folder permission issues
In addition to the missing bin folder/files, some users also report folder permissions getting messed up in such a way that they cannot replace the files. For that please try these steps.

1) Try turning your PC off and on again. Yes its cheesy, but it often works.
2) Make sure you run things as admin.
3) Try disabling your anti-virus.

What about the 1.4.19.0 version? Is there a download for that version?

You can download all manual patches so you don't have to do it every time when you need to reinstall PR (you have to just install them).

Full client for 1.4.20 or something would be a nice thing IMO.

In 1.4.19 and 1.4.20 only Reality.Bf2.dll got changed. If only the PRLauncher.exe goes missing you can take that from the files linked above.
