1.5.1.0 patch disappears midway - no error shown
I cannot play PR online because the update process wont complete, I've tried reinstalling VStudio, .net, reinstalled PR and restarted PC inbetween those, tried both the uploaded prbf2_1.5.0.0_to_1.5.1.0_client_patch on the forum aswell as automated patch via updater.
Tried in safe mode too, problem persists; patch install gets to 91% then the dialog vanishes with no mention of an error. I have tried all that has been suggested on the forum. No anti virus installed - in fact its a fresh install of XP SP3.
Why is there no error message? Any ideas?

Detracting from the real issue here ... but if you insist
I am familiar with this OS
It does everything I need it to
Its lightening quick on newer hardware / No bloatware
Old applications which I need to do work with only work on it.
OS upgrade is expensive / unnecessary.
I hope you don't ask everyone that posts in the XP sub-forum this question.

Only issue with XP is that we would love to drop support, but guys like you prevent us from doing soWeeGeez wrote:Detracting from the real issue here ... but if you insist

Cannot find the PRLauncher.log.
However, there are 6 text files in the UpdateLogs folder.
See zip file, attached.

Dont question the wikipedia! Just because it reports different things on different languages does not make it unreliable source!

It works now.
I cleared up some space on that hard drive. I think the temp folder didn't have enough space. That common_client.zip is 450mb! Someone should double check this to confirm.
I can play now after many years of not being able to woo!
EDIT: Wise it would be to prompt users to have necessary space free prior to update.
This will save people coming to forum to report (it will happen regardless of Operating System).

Now that it's fixed, we can discuss the main issue with win XP: Microsoft no longer supports it and new exploits are not going to be fixed.

Hats off to you using Windows XP in 2018! I thought i held out for awhile skipping Vista and going to 7 after numerous patches, but you are keeping that flame alive.WeeGeez wrote:Detracting from the real issue here ... but if you insist

Although that video of a Windows XP machine being hacked by Vlad in about 20 mins of joining the internet is not exactly confidence building.

I do have a sealed copy of Windows XP Home if you are interested...

Thats nothing. I'm using a 775 motherboard from 2006 I picked up for £20. People don't realise how rare this form factor with those slots is:MattUK001 wrote:Hats off to you using Windows XP in 2018!
