Latest Update - Can't Open Game - Crash On Launch

Post by SwatiusPilot »

Evening, thanks for your time!

Longtime player here, only recently have I had any issues. I try to launch PR and prbf2.exe stops working immediately. I've tried reinstalling, deleting documents folder, etc.

Here is info from windows logs. It mentions ntdll.dll being the problem. Another player mentioned a conflict with Office and this dll file. I deleted Microsoft Office, restarted but still having issues. Thanks for any help!

Hey guys thanks for the reply...

I had reshade a while ago, but have since reinstalled the game like 4-5 times over the past few days trying to get this to work.

I'm able to open prbf2.exe but if I load game through the launcher, it crashes on intro. First problem in 8+ years!

I have Malware antibytes but it doesn't run in the background and I've had it for many many years no problems. I will uninstall to see if it helps.

Get procdump, attach to PR before it crashes and send me the resulting dump.

procdump.exe -ma -b -e 1 -g prbf2.exe

I downloaded procdump. I made a new folder called C:\Dump.

I then opened CMD in admin,

I typed cd C:\dump,

I then pasted this procdump.exe -ma -b -e 1 -g prbf2.exe

I get an error saying no process could be found.

please advise thank you.

Are you on 1.5.4.4 already? If not download the patch and update manually:

You need to run it when the game launches, in the few seconds you have before it crashes.

I don't think updating to 1.5.4.4 will help with this actually.

I got the process dump, I tried to open in Notepad but it looks like alien language.

How do I open it to post here?

That's almost what I need from it, I need the stack trace. It should be on the bottom right in windbg. I need to see which windows API BF2 calls which fails if any.

Noob question, where do I type that? Also just installed Squad and it opens and runs fine. This is a bummer. :(
