BF2/PR Help (Wont open)

Alright so I've been unable to load up PR (I used to be able to play until I updated my video card to a certain version, ARMA2 won't work now either) I used to just switch back and forth versions to be able to play but am just deciding to keep it to the most recent now (I know it'll be possible to get this working somehow).
If I try and load up BF2 the screen will go black for about half a second then exit and I'm back to desktop with nothing.. I turned off full screen mode and this popped up now:

Help would be extremely appreciated as I want to get back in the game, I used to absolutely fucking love playing this game and there's nothing comparable.. I am in dire need to see how 1.0 is.
I'm willing to do whatever is needed [uninstall,reinstall, etc.] shy of going and upgrading my PC.

Check your options from the PR launcher and make sure the Resolution matches that of your display.

Hi Fenian, welcome back,

delete the documents\projectreality directory
start praluncher, the profile retrieval routine will start, do not import your vBF2 profile, instead retrieve your profile from gamespy using username, email and or password combo.

Did the same thing - black screen for about half a second as if it was trying to load it then immediately back to desktop. Then afterwards a PR screen pops up stating 'Cleaning BF2 PR files' or something of that sort.

Are you running your monitor in portrait mode (like, is it rotated 90 degrees)? Are you using SLI, or have multiple monitors happening? If so, try not using that.

Your graphics card driver is also way out of date.

Not sure what SLI is but its just a plug n play monitor, haven't changed anything with it since I picked it up.. And yea, trust me I know its extremely outdated, was waiting to just throw some money into a new machine altogether, something that can handle say Total War Rome 2. Just waiting until I get my bachelors first however.

I meant your graphics card driver (although your graphics card is also pretty old and weak)

Thanks for the notice (actually forgot to check if a simple update would fix it when having another go at this all), but same problem persists.. Black screen then back to desktop yet again

I'm thinking I'm going to uninstall and reinstall BF2 and see if that fixes it.. I remember there being some sort of certain order I'm supposed to install the patches? Is this still unfortunately true today?

It very well could be a card issue,
NVIDIA GeForce GT 220

Couple of tests to try:
1. play vanilla BF2 online, see if you have a problem.
2. play vanilla BF2 at resolutoin of 800x600, see if you have a problem.
3. set PR resolution to 800x600, see if you have a problem.
4. delete documents\projectreality start PRlauncher, do not import vanlila BF2 profile, instead retrieve from gamespy.



If you set the resolution to something lower, like 800x600, and all video optoins to low, and test,
and you got no problems, you'll know you're maxing out the GPU at 1280x720.

from that point, you can drop down to a smaller 16:9 resolution and start lowering view distance to something like 75%, experiment to push it back up to like 90%
