Setup.exe identified as malware!

Post by mac2244 »

Just tried to install PRv1.6 - unzipped and went to "setup.exe" tried to run and everytime my
gdata antivirus flags it as malware and automatically quarantines it! (note even with gdata disabled - keeps flagging the setup file as malware and quarantines it!!)

Am I doing something wrong or is there away to resolved this?

Hi, here you can see the scan of our installer with the most common anti-virus software:
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/d82 ... /detection

As you can see GDATA is on there as undetected. Please upload your setup.exe to virustotal and do a scan to make sure your computer isn't infected with malware that injecting itself into our installer. It's also possible you need to update your anti-virus signatures (basically update your anti-virus) so it can clear the Project Reality Installer.

We indeed have seen some Anti-Virus software flagging our installer as malware previously, which it obviously isn't. Feel free to scan your setup.exe using VirusTotal to make sure.

For now, if you want to install, please disable your anti-virus completely during download and installation of PR.

Thanks for your reply! (and I do not doubt that your software is not malware!)
But GDATA is all up to date and it will not let me run the "setup.exe" - automatically quarantines its as malware...….never seen it react in such a way before usually it gives you the option to ignore!!
Note have also disabled all the GDATA components you can- and using a part of the software based on the cloud! it identifies the setup.exe as malware even when the main GDATA software is disabled!!...…
any other thoughts?

I'm not sure about your specific antivirus, but if the setup.exe is being quarantined. You should be able to tell your AV to whitelist just that particular application/exe etc. Might be under the name "add an exception" or something.

Yes - seems to be a move back and allow from now on option?
