Simple as it what the title says.
Look I get what the mapper was trying to do, make a map more ARMA esc, something resembling recent conflict in the mountains. But it really really doesnt play well. Ins and ESPECIALLY aas layouts most of the time get super boring.
- Half the map is inaccessible (please dont say that is intentional)
- For a 4km map there sure isnt much to it besides annoyingly steep hills
- Squad tactics SUCK on this map, most of the time you are forced to be funneled through mountain chokepoints that Opfor are already camping, it promotes no decent teamwork.
+ Make more of the hills accessible, please take time to look over the terrain, and ask yourself does this area look fun and decent to play rather than just spamming the increase terrain height button
+ Make map smaller?
+ Make a larger settlement somewhere in the corner of the map, or a string a adjoined mountain settlements.
+ Take out AAS layer, they do NOT work, especially the MEC layer.
I'm more than happy to talk to you more about it. It just needs to be taken out and reworked on, as decent maps have been removed for this janky unplayable thing.

Re: Rotate out Kunar
I find it amazing how different the opinions and experiences of players are.
I am leading squads most if not all the time. To me, Kunar is an amazing map and like many of the new maps, truly a piece of art. Kudos to the developer(s) for all the work.
The terrain is rough, and hard to master, and does a great job at simulating the hardships of mountain combat. It is true that there is quite a bit of frustration when it comes movement. Then again, this is why terrain forces to develop a different tactical approach then, say, a city combat map, or Vietnam map. Infantry mobility is greatly decreased which changes the pace of the game and the ability to react to events in short time frames.
As for "boring" - I rarely have a boring round in PR. That happens only in the Insurgency game mode when BLUFOR is too weak to put sufficient pressure on OPFOR. Or, if the player quality of the team is sufficiently low (no teamwork, no mic). Perhaps it is more the squad you are operating with and time you play then the actual map design?
Please keep the AAS layer - so far I have not played a layer where the river basin comes into play, so maybe we will see more configurations here. Perhaps even a AAS configuration where one side can only defend?

I agree with Ober.
It is not fun. Ever.
I am struggling to think of a less playable map since PR was started. It's no good, I've given up. it IS the worst map ever.

I've been to military and nothing comes to close to the pain and suffering I've had to endure with this map. It's a game not a "simulation" and we are here to have fun time.Catmouse wrote:I find it amazing how different the opinions and experiences of players are.

And when it comes to movement and mastering the hard terrain we've already had that for years and done well, Korengal Valley with it's hidden paths and steep unforgiving terrain. Still has a mix of freedom and choke points making it it more fluid and fun to play.
You said it yourself, you've never had a boring round in PR so it seems you can be put into a horribly boring game/map and still you'd have fun. Good for you!
