I love to play offline in games like Project Reality, but the AI is very un-responsive to orders, and very VERY dumb most of the times.
I know most of the stuff is hardcoded but is there hope for better AI someday? I feel most modern games stray away from the idea of a psuedo "multi-player" experience with offline bots like older games back when internet was an issue for most people.
Maybe a third-party bot system that controls bots outside of Project Reality? Like a fake player connection being played by a "commander" program outside of the scope of the Refractor engine.
I haven't been in the loop with PR lately and was wondering if better bots is a thing that the team is striving the achieve!
What do you think about this subject?

Re: The future of bots in Project Reality
I had forgotten all about PR until recently, I'm going have to figure out how to get BF2 up and running again and see what servers might be active. But yeah, it's a sad reality with a lot of older multiplayer shooters and mods with no or very dumb bots.
Please sir, may I have some more co-op?

PR is standalone, BF2 is no longer required since v1.3
