Of course, I was trying in vehicles. It might be worth noting that the numpad keys on the FreeLook program also have no effect ingame.PatrickLA_CA wrote:Where are you trying to move his head? You can only do it while in an aircraft. And jeeps and trucks etc.

Tried running both programs as administrator? Also make sure you're using the fixed BF2FreeLook for PR, link is https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/997 ... eeLook.exe

Everything has been ran as Administrator.PatrickLA_CA wrote:Tried running both programs as administrator? Also make sure you're using the fixed BF2FreeLook for PR, link is https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/997 ... eeLook.exe
I've also tested the old version of the FreeLook program to see the difference between the modded version and the previous one. The old one never detects PR. The modded version will indicate - BF2 v1.5 detected.
As you can see here, the TrackIR software doesn't detect a title. I think this may be related to the issue. Earlier, Elite Dangerous wasn't utilizing TrackIR since the TrackIR software didn't recognize Elite Dangerous. To solve that, I had to update the software's titles. I believe we need to manage to have the TrackIR software communicate with the FreeLook program.
Although, I'd still like to point out the Numpad buttons found on the FreeLook program have no effect ingame either.

Hmm I think FreeLook only works with freetrack/facetrack noir

Re: BF2FreeLook - head tracking, mouselook, snap and pan views
Tried long and hard, conclusion: TrackIR 5 cannot be used. Unless someone can figure this out, this version of TrackIR cannot be used by FreeTrack. Confirmation found here: TrackIR Cameras & FreeTrack - NaturalPointofView - Critical look at NaturalPoint business practices
It's quite sad to be honest, I was very exited to hear someone had fixed the program. Yet, now I've learned TrackIR requested FreeTrack to disable the usage of their cameras. You can downgrade FreeTrack to previous version with previous TrackIR software, although TrackIR 5 is too recent for the previous software to recognize it. Unless someone can manage to solve this issue, no 6dof for TrackIR 5 users...
Edit: Still trying, got FreeTrack to "recognize" the TrackIR 5 camera - if we can call it that. As you might notice, the source selected has the same ID as my TrackIR 5 camera which can be seen in the picture I supplied earlier. Although, it isn't gathering any picture from it. It knows it's there, but can't use it.

I suggest you try once with a webcam if you have one by using FaceTrackNoIR and see if it works.

I might give it a shot in a few days. I'd have to go purchase myself a quick trashy cam in order to test the program finally.

Maybe find a friend with a laptop and try it out so you don't have to spend money?

So how about now that the game is standalone?
I just built a diy headtracker with an ir led, battery pack, and battery (duh) for $11. Now realizing that just my webcam (logitech c920 HD) was enough. Still struggling with getting anything working.

I followed the steps according to a recent install video and just cant get it to track anything for any game. Im gonna do a full uninstall of the software and try again from the start. Are you using v1.6 or v1.7?

I'm using 1.7
This is how I installed it and made it work:

The first thing you will need is software to track your head, for example, I use FaceTrackNoIR because I want to use my camera.
Second thing you will need in theory is FreeTrack but you won't need it for BF2 (PR) because there's a program made specifically for BF2 and fixed for PR ( link by sirfstar: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/997 ... eeLook.exe ).
There is nothing really to set up, first you start as administrator FaceTrackNoIR (or TrackIR software or whatever you will be using, I recommend FaceTrackNoIR), and then you click on Start/Stop in order to start or stop the tracking, then you start BF2Freelook.exe (from the link above which works for PR 1.0+) as an admin too.
And that's it. Now you need to go into a vehicle and turn your head around.
At first it's going to be horribly fast due to the huge sensitivity, but you can tweak under Curves to your liking in FaceTrackNoIR.
Here's my config which has Roll turned off. You can load it by pressing Load profile on FaceTrackNoIR.
Simple File Sharing and Storage.
Edit: Updated link, turned off roll, and moving on the X and Y axis which seemed to be annoying while flying, now you are only able to pitch, yaw and move on the Z axis (zoom back and forth).
The important thing to keep in mind to avoid problems is to start FaceTrackNoIR and BF2FreeLook before you start PR.
If anyone wants to reword this or add something, feel free.

Re: BF2FreeLook - head tracking, mouselook, snap and pan views
Well idk if all this helped but it is now working. Just tuning it all up now with the curves. The only thing I did different was enable face track and hide trackir in the facetrack options.
From what I can tell it seems to take time for the tracker to kick in once you hit start. Does that sound about right? Its not immediate. I think my impatience has been at fault this entire time cause I was expecting the tracking to start immediately.

Yeah, it takes some time but it usually isn't more than 10 seconds for me.

Re: BF2FreeLook - head tracking, mouselook, snap and pan views
I downloaded the BF2FreeLook and the executable inside the rar file was "fixed_BF2FeeeLook.exe" which I am guessing is for PR with the new stand-along PRBF2.exe game engine. It does not seem to work with regular BF2.exe v1.50.
Can someone confirm two things for me about it:
1. Does it still work with regular BF2.exe (v1.50)
2. Does it work on an x64 system?
Korg sends

I don't know why but bf2freelook doesn't detect bf2 (1.5).

Were you able to solve this problem?
