Post by senator55 »

Why are the stats so slow updating.
This is a bit of a turn off for me, i love the game but like to know how well im doing.
Also my rank hasnt gone up on the stats page but when i start a round i get promoted 3 times in a row without doing anything??????

Cool mod though keep up the good work.

You rank will NEVER show up on the stats page if you dont run the ABR client.

Stats mean absolutely nothing in PR... you can do absolutely nothing (it seems) and get hundreds of points.

Stats are a nice way to see what you have done/how well you are doing. For all of you saying that stats dont mean anything on pr; this is a game just like all other games, people like to be able to see how well they do (as far as accuracy, kills/deaths, what weapons/vehicles you are best with) in that game. Why do you think PR is any different? If you are referring to RANK and unlocks then yes you can say there are no unlocks to achieve through RANK.

The stats link up at the top that takes you to BF2 Stats.com. When I look up any of my SN's, the stats are so far off its not even funny. My most used name says I have only 23 hours of playing. On xfire, I have over 1000 hours of PR time. and the actual stats are pretty damn uraneous and off.

Weird. Mine are correct. Always have been. Always updates within 12 hours as well.

Exactly.

And to the contrary of what most people are saying, stats are important in the respect that they can actually IMPROVE teamwork. PR rewards teamwork more than kills (occasional sniper shots aside) so if points make people play more as a team then i'm all for it and I can't think why people wouldn't be. And if you don't care for them, just don't look at them. Simple.

You clearly don't understand how the system works. Go look it up.

The bottom line is though, the more you play as a team and the higher skilled you are, the higher your will score, so they are valid. ;)

Even if your replies are entertaining, very few of you are actually answering his question.

From the top, once again.
As you already know, PR does not use the same ranking system as vBF2. v standing for "vanilla" and means original and not modded version of BF2. PR can use an alternative ranking system called Alternative Battlefield Ranking.

Since no servers hosting PR are official BF2 servers, they are all privatly funded. It is up to them to decide if they want to have ABR on their server. Some choose not to and some do. You can usually find the ones who have ABR by looking at their names. F.example the Helix server: "HeliX #1 PR 0.509 ABR RANKED"

This is the reason why you can look at xfire and see (f.example) 1000 hours played and in ABR only 300 hours played.

In regards to getting promoted several times when joining a ABR server, the - bah - I wont bother with the technical explenation -

Solution: Download the ABR Client. You can do so here. ABR's mainpage can be found here: http://www.battlefieldranking.net/

Start up the ABR client. Your username and password is identical to your BF2 account. Now, start up BF2. Click on BFHQ and voila. You will now get "promoted" once again. Annoying yes, but ... Disconnect ABR and choose any ABR hosted server and you will see that the game now remembers your rank.

If you want to read more about this, you can go to ABR's page, or you can use the handy search function on this forum. It has tons of information about ranks and ABR.

Happy hunting.

I only use the ABR when I go on a ABR server because Im sick of getting promotion/award spam.
I hate stats, its what has ruined battlefield games. (people tk to get the J10 so they can go rape the carrier all round to up their KD:R then wave their forum willy on BF2S like people care lol.)
I really wish all servers would stop using ABR, It is annoying. It doesnt even report stats correctly (not logged ANY UK hours, weapon/kit stats are wrong for PR anyway.)
Better games to be had on unranked servers imo, people will go the extra mile in squads for you because they are not bothered about protecting KD:R or getting some award.
Also, how can some servers be ranked AND have shorter respawn times? I avoid short respawn time servers like the plague, just full of nilla players with nilla attitude if you ask me.

Same opinion here! :)

Remember, the stats also show how much TKs one did. Stats system is good and shouldn't be removed!!!
We talked about that in other threads of these forums. If one gets rewarded for teamplay-actions he/ she will act different! Please keep that always in mind!

Sure, the stats might be the reason why ppl want to act like J.J. Rambo. BUT: those ppl won't vanish when the stats get deleted. As I already suggested, ABR has to get altered that way, that players get awarded for certain gameplay! New awards that make sense can help improving teamplay!!!
