Fully Operating Spec Ops squad!

Post by Ecko »

Had a great time earlier on Thors 24/7 al basrah.

Squad of 4, 1 Officer, 1 DM, 1 Medic and 1 Spec ops. We were operating out of a TOW Hummer for the added protection (Which really did help us later on.)

Firstly we noticed Northern bridge was under Insurgent control, we rolled Up and I dropped a RP and the DM stayed back with the hummer, 6 dead insurgents and explosives removed from bridge, we loaded up and proceeded too knock out every bridge and AA gun.
After that we moved into assist at facility, holding the eastern market cutting off insurgent re-enforcements, held there for around 15mins.

After that the squad fell apart, but for that short time we had some of the best team work going on that I've ever seen.

sounds sweet, nice tactics, esp. the bit about 'moving in to assist at facility'

It can be alot of fun behind the lines in Basrah

I remember Basrah first came out, i was with a sqaud doing something very similar. Except the entire sqaud got wiped out except me, i had a SAW. :)

I then spent the next 10 minutes trying to work my way through Basrah back towards my squad. I had such a large smile on my face.. all i could think off was that bit form Black Hawk Down when the deaf dude with a SAW and his mate get left behind. I went on something like a 20 kill streak, but the pack of insurgents hunting me down was always getting bigger, it seemed. I just kept moving, setting up mini ambuses etc.. I never made it back, but i had such a blast. Good times

On Basrah...geez, whenever I get there, I just want to teamswitch to Insurgents, theres always better teamwork there...
Once I made an AA squad and took the SA-7..soon two policeman and another SA-7 joined and we were scaring off the choppers, plus, a sniper actually came to camp on the neighbouring roof and the guy with Insurgent kit threw a hook on the rooftop, from where we could see him...hehe

However, the dream fell apart, when we were USMC, everyone went back to noobing...

Thing is, you have to be extremely clever to get by as insurgent. All the USMC gear in that map is for the express purpose of mowing down anyone stupid enough to get seen.

So it's either be VERY sneaky or have a completely shitty time. Considering it actually is possible to get along as insurgent, I think this map is a classic.

Then again, I'm SP only (can't get internet at home...german internet giants).
