the only time i use a sniper / marksmen kit is when i kill one, and take it from him.
the only time i use spec ops is when i have to blow up some thing, and still be able to fight. but now the engineer kit offers the same advantage +a grapple hook on some maps. so there is almost no need to go spec ops at all

I found out, that when fighting USMC on maps like Qwai, Phoenix... most of the kits I find are Spec Op...
I'll bash snipers and spec op kits until I never see either in direct combat; snipers should be working in pairs stealthy somewhere away from everyone and so should Spec Op...
Having a direct assault on a CP and seeing two 1337 kiddies rush in with their sf caps and on the most horrible round ever, you can also see snipers running around, then after a while they're at base requesting the kit again, as my squad is being wasted by the guy on the other team, who picked up the sniper.
Nothing pisses me more than hearing my team's weapon being used by the enemy. Most of the time it's the M14 tbh.

Heh, I used them a lot for the sole reason that they were the only kit you could spawn with that had a weapon with full-automatic fire .6. Fools who believe spec ops have uses in any other map than Al-B
Wouldn't it be nice if you as a squad leader could bar your squaddies from requesting certain kits?

I think the Strategist ( apheriox ? ) had a concept like that limiting what kits could be in a squad.
I love the UK marksman's rifle because it has full auto, good in the country or the city.
And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

Squad Leader with it is annoying:
(Just a note: I din't mind him having it since we were thrasing the USMC team, who apprantly where all just waiting around for the Helos/airplane, I never fired a Shot this round.. had 0 kills and 0 deaths.. barely any enemy resistance, it was just like where walking in a park)

i personally like pick-up kits in reasonable places, like obvious sniper positions. Then it isn't a "secret coveted item" that everyone races to find. It just doesn't make sense why someone would lay down a multi-thousand dollar gun in the sand.
I know you guys probably hate hearing this...but, "The way Forgotten Hope did it made sense and didn't result in (a lot) of nibbish behavior."
The way it is now is to prevent tards from picking it up randomly i guess, or to make it more satisfying when you get it. I've been playing PR for a while, since 0.4, and i still don't know where any of the pickup kits are, aside from the ones in the ammo dumps.
See, the ammo dumps make sense...that would be a logical spot to store weapons. A tower, or atop a building, or a small bunker across a bridge would be just as likely to house a sniper rifle, and i don't think it would hurt the game if they were moved to those places.

beat that: a dude spawns at a bunker located on the northside of ejod-gasstation which is already ours(mec). 1second later the bunker comes under fire from an usmc apc bout 50m away on the southside of the bunker.
this dude luckily survives the heat rounds and....-requests him an at-kit-? no!
he asks for a grenadierkit then he leaves to the west and begins pounding the usmc main with grenades.

Won't beat mine. It's an old one and it's possible I already posted it here. But here it is anyway:
Deployed a bunker as commander (I think it was Hills of Hamgyong map as Chinese). Informed squad-leaders about it and the need of shovels. No reply and no builders. So I typed to teamchat the same. After few seconds a guy appear and starts building the bunker. As soon as it shows:
*QM* dudes_name, I've allocated your SNIPER KIT (2/2)
Guy runs away and bunker collapses...

Here's how I use a sniper kit.
Example, Seven Gates: British team.
I get a good concealed location with a good view of the base in the middle when my team attacks it and I pick off the chinese waiting on top of the base walls. When the team takes that base I move so I can get a view on the next one and help the attackers. I also don't join a squad so people are wondering where I am.
I do believe I use it properly, right guys, team support, not 1337 squad leedr of doom?
My personal preferred way to play PR is having a good squad on Al-Basrah and having rifleman or grenadier kit and actually following orders, it's fun. Also, I only use SF kit for Close quarters and cache destroying.

I use the Spec Ops kit. It was the first kit I ever spawned with in vBF2 back in '05, simply because I liked the carbine. I often use the kit on PR too, I find it reassuring to know I can have a burst of as much ammunition as I need, be it 2, 3 or 4 rounds. I don't mind the lack of body armor - I play in such a way that if I'm shot, it's because I've been outflanked, so I'd probably be killed no matter how much armor I had on. I appreciate good teamwork, play more often then not as a squad leader, use voip in a friendly and useful way, and always seem to have my M4 on single shot, out of choice.
I understand that [especially back in the day] the M4 was prone spammed to hell, but why do you guys get so worked up about someone who spawns as Spec Ops even before you know how they play?
As for the pickup kits, I'm sure the DEVs have plans, they've already seen all this feedback, but what's the point of releasing a new version of the map clients just to eliminate the problems?
Be patient lads.
Happy trails

visit http://www.operationreality.org and go on TS on weekends. Most of the members in Roughencks play in a squad of 4 or 5 lead by me. Always teamwork in EVERY game. Also NEVER a SNIPER or MARKSMEN in my squads besides for gusy taht I know ill stay and operate as a team.
And here is my story: we are in barsah and commander says to help build a fire base at south VCP he deploys and runs away when insrgents come. Leaving his Co truck a squad of guys but what made me laugh after he deployed he left Co had someone build it and then requested sniper on teh spot, I shot him in the back of the leg for it. Then had a medic help him.

I have actually had a good experience with sniper squads. I log onto the round, grab an officer kit and head straight towards the palace, i assign the other 3 members to go spec ops or engineer. we blow all 3 palace bridges and return to base.
i request an officer kit another squad member got sniper and the rest got engineer/riflemen, we drop a member off at the M-82 site and make a hard landing on one of the narrow alleyways. we all head toward the hotel area and slap an RP in the pool.
after that me and the m82 climb to the top of the hotel, the other sniper gets up in one od the buildings to the west of the hotel and the riflmen and engineer search for caches. and the sixth member of our squad orbited the city-centre and called out troop movements and cache positions.

First: PR is the best game I ever played - many thanks to the PR-team.
I can't wait to see v0.7!
But: Today on the TB server, Assault on Mestia on british side, while fighting for EAST and WEST TOWER, I see another british squad (#7) led by a certain USA[R-PUB]Viper5 constantly raping the militia main base.
So...? The more mature players are working hard to make PR a great experience, are setting up things like the 'PR ethos' and then: A member of the PR team acts like this. Shame on you Viper. Not even after half the players on both sides shouted at you would you stop baseraping. Would everybody act like you, the PR community would be dead by now.
It's good most people out there enjoy a good challenging game more than easy kills. Cheers to them!
