I don't care how old you are, who you work for, but a little more respect might be nice.S.M wrote:Well, im 38 yers of old and i´ve been active member for pr for years. But this release was way up in *****. I got 858 mb for first dl and then it was stopped. 2 h for nothing, i live and work in Finland for an ITa-engineer, codec for F-secure.
The way you treat you "customers" is really fuckd up. I mean really. You guys have literally months do this right and you still fuckd things up. I know that some of you want a job for dice or any other company for that matter, but no matter how great job you didi for this release, you did´nt think the customers point of view at all.
Most of the dev have been on the servers for at least 30 h and just for the fun. The rest of fuckers been here waiting for a release.
Thanskd for the mod, but fuck you guys for the customer service.
So you have one problem with a download server? That's bound to happen for any high profile release, since the amount of strain on them is huge. The servers aren't run by us, there's nothing we can do about it. More download links are coming in gradually, but at this time of year it can be hard to contact the right people. If you'd prefer we could just not offer 3rd party download links and distribute solely through torrent. As a 100% voluntary development team we clearly cannot afford to pay the thousands of dollars needed for our own download servers of the scale needed for foolproof and error proof distribution, and as such we have to rely on third party servers.
You're not paying for the mod, so count yourself lucky you have the opportunity to get it. You clearly have no fucking clue how much time we have spent catering to what the 'customers' would prefer or how much of our own free time we voluntarily give up to this mod. Spending much of our christmas holidays sitting at the computer churning out new builds, fixing bugs, and finishing off those last features no one really wanted to have to do.
Devs and testers have been on the servers for over 30 hours. Yes, that's true. The majority of the dev team and all the testers have little to do with the last stages of release. Do you really think we can release a build as soon as it's been uploaded? No, we have to test the installer and check for any last minute bugs that would prevent a release. We have to prepare the media, the website, the news posts. Send the files out to mirrors. The list goes on.
If we didn't care about 'customer service' things would be very different. Basic website, torrent only download, no news updates, no forum moderation, to name just a few.
If you think you can do better, make yourself a 2GB mod attracting thousands of downloads in the first few hours, and see how you cope.
