Still no answer on the question if you must uninstall version 0.61 prior installating 0.7.

Any comments?

Yeah whatever, dude. "Intrusive", "privacy damaging"...LOL
Direct downloads are yesterday's technology. Torrent downloads are the future, and are used by legitimate organisations to offer legitimate downloads (e.g. Ubuntu Linux distributions). If you think that the torrent protocol is used primarily by copyright pirates, you've been seriously brainwashed by the music & motion picture industry associations in your home country.

Look man, I'm trying to be helpful by pointing to the torrents and the download instructions (in the GUIDE section), but if you can't figure out how to open the appropriate port in your router setup to let your torrent program use 100% of your bandwidth, then it's just tough luck for you. Good example of the survival of the fittest. Adapt, overcome, or fail (and don't play PR for another week).

Torrent or Direct

Post by SocketMan »

If you don't have access to the router
and your torrent speed is low there is
always Download Managers.
DAP for example will open up a couple of threads and be faster then using a torrent behind a closed router.

The problem is, many ISPs, especially in the USA and some around the world, do not think that way. Comcast (one of the largest cable ISP's in the USA, and the one thats the most available and cheapest (usually) to use) monitors packets for torrent bandwidth and sends modified packets back to reset and disable the downloads every time they try to start, unless it's from a comcast user, and encryption, peerguardian, etc won't stop it. Rogers (ISP in canada and some northern US states) throttle any encrypted traffic down to 10kbps or less in some areas. Stuff like that happens, and it might not be his fault that he can't get it to work.

I feel a bit stupid after reading your post, maybe I'm being arrogant here - and in the case of those who are being screwed by their ISPs, I apologise.

However, you've got to consider how many people simply reject torrents outright, without even giving them a try. They treat the torrent protocol like some huge hacker/mafia conspiracy out to steal their data.

Anyone else had the core files from either the download sites and/or torrents corrupted?

Downloaded it five times now and i've only just managed to get the levels download working, all the core files are corrupted or in an unknown file format.

And yes i use torrents all the time so have some idea of what i'm doing, but htis has got me bamboozled

Ok folks, question time.
Why out of 5 different downloads are they all corrupted and refusing to run or open?
