Close call?

Being extracted to a place named Kashan Desert, I was told to wait for air-transport. My objective was to join my squad at the frontlines. Being bored at this lonely place, i went to tent and cleaned my rifle and sidearm. Having some thoughts sametime in my mind about the battle i was in. I really thought that once i enter helicopter, we get shot down. That was one of biggest fears when in helicopter...

Spotted some mates running and doing something, I didnt bother to ask and soon i heard the helicopter. Theres no going back now and so i got in helicopter. Saying quick hello and off we went.

Pilot told me that they are going to reach higher altidude because of the dangers. Myself always thinking about getting shot down, i just tried to calm down and think about something else. Because when in different division i was learning as a pilot, i had some basic piloting skills.

Actually there were only me and one pilot, no one else...
Flying for a while now, we were soon at the landing zone and i calmed down. I sat in co-pilot seat and saw one true desert below me, with some houses and few roads here and there. Altidude was getting lower and lower and we went through clouds. I knew that we would be perfect target for some stinger soldier, but i couldnt see anyone with my binoculars.

Altidude was extremely low now and I was just about ready to hop off..when suddenly sniper bullet killed pilot
I was so shocked, i looked to right and there he was, head facing ground like that, totally dead. All this thinking went very fast through my head and i grabbed the joystick, just to little turn it someway. At the time i didnt think that i need pilot kit to control it, but i still got into seat and trying to turn it for more safer landing. Because of the low altidude (about 20 meters) the helicopter went on ground with its nose and side and it got into fire. I was extremely surprised that it didnt blow up. I quickly hopped off the helicopter and managed to get few steps away, when helicopter exploded.

I was still shocked, just thinking what happened in last few seconds and i still managed to survive....
Went to the designated move point, joining my squad while still being shocked all the rest round.

Yeah I've had that happen. The chopper will insta-explode (on impact) if there's no one in the pilot seat, I managed to land a little bird (on qwai) without the pilot kit in the middle of a tank/apc/ton of infantry when the pilot was kill by a sniper or something. It was pretty awesome, hiding in the woods with a tank trying to hunt me and my SM down.
