Ah you got to be joking, I only just downloaded 0.75.

Is there any way to like patch the game from 0.75 to 0.8 saving me having to download it all again? or do I have to download the game again?

You have to download it again. Due to the changes from .75 to .8 a full version was necessary.

i never imagined .8 would change things this drastically. the game has improved 10 fold.

The new version pwnz everything!
Even though i not agree with all the changes like the new sprinting and rally point system.
but well, in 1 or 2 weeks i will get used to it!

omg now that are some good news!!!
i was on vacation last week and today i wanted to play a bit PR and BAAAAAM! v0.8! now i just have to wait till someone will download it for me... (with my connection its gonna take like 20 hours :( ) i want it so bad!

I can confirm this, there were well over 1000 people playing PR for most of yesterday. Thats more than ArmA had at the same time.

Even now there are 729 people playing PR, normally, there is an average of only 300-400 max at any one time.

Yeah the first five minutes I was like, OMG they killed a great game,(Being as Your sprint is worthless now, and you have to command from a trailer the whole game,etc) then after the first five hours, I was like, my god this is AWESOME! blowing up tunels, landslides, and commanding with good squads is alot more fun with Arty attacks!!

GJ dev team, good job in deed!

the best change is that fighters now have jdam.
yesterday, i played as spec ops with a mig29 pilot in my squad. it was so fun i even didnt want to fly for myself^^ i just pressed left mouse, waited 10 secs and... BOOM :grin:
best game EVER (!!!!game, not mod!!!!)

This release has brought me back after months in the TF2 universe. I'll let you know what I think of the game play in three days when the downloads finish (does no-one seed this stuff any more on torrent? ;) )

Looking at what others have posted, and the changelog, I think I am in for a real treat. I appreciate the work that all the devs do with what is still the best reality-based FPS out there.

Very slick guys,

This is officially the best game i've played...ever! Loving the new interface, the new music and all the gameplay tweaks. I think that reducing the sprint was a good call...now you really have to choose your moment to make a dash...like in reality.

The training mode was a great idea too...thank god i never tried to fly a jet in game before.

So double thumbs up from me, keep up the amazing work guys.

Its amazing everyone thinks that. In fact the bombs on the jets are less powerful than they are in v0.75, the only huge difference is that now the bombs have new effects, which is a mini JDAM effect hehe.

yeah, it would be great if i wasn't getting kicked by PB for shaders. Started happening in 0.8. I have tried everything short of throwing my computer out of a window.

You could try this.
If you are getting the shaders_client.zip mismatch error then this duct tape fix may or may not work for you:

Follow these steps closely:

1. Delete the cache data folder for PR. You can find this folder usually by going to
C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache\
and deleting whatever folder is there. This will force re-optimization for the game when you load into a map again.

2. Make a backup of the following file by renaming the file adding .bak to the end of it.
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\shaders_client.zip

3. Then COPY C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\shaders_client.zip to the previous folder in Step 2.

4. Restart Game and the problem may be solved.
