korengal valley firebase (well actully bunker)

Post by gazzthompson »

ever since i saw screenshots of this map and played in stress test i thought about building a firebase(or bunker in this case) right here (E3 SPAWN).

Image

seems some one beat me to posting screenshots of it so ill nick afew of theres:

as you can see, this is the place im talking about, and as you can see its a bunker not firebase ?? but still.

here is the main bunker view:

uber pwnage.

niccccce , and as you can see all targets are like sub 280m.

easy range for rifles for harassing fire and kill shots.

kits:

HAT - uber pwn, killed quite afew with this, also a cache.
LAT - also very good.
grenadier - good aswell
sniper - didnt use, though would imagine good.
marksman - didnt use, would imagine to be excellent
SAW(squad SAW not placed) - did use, great for showing teammates location of inf and harassing fire.

can report INS movements, harassing and kill shots, call arty when available, great spot.

basically this location rocks, and also is a easily defended location for rest of team to spawn on instead of main. would like to see other peoples experiences with this location, also tips on how to use it effectively, ill update once ive done it more.

thats it for now.

i think this is a great asset to defend, its a spawn point in the middle of the map and has massive views for killing INS and monitoring movement , also you can view possible cache locations judging by the massing of infantry

i left with 200 tickets to go. we diverted maybe 2 full squads to taking us down. killed many more in valley, any of them moving in open was HAT/LAT sniped and real sniped. very effective IMO.

only problem is ammo. had to make a few gun runs from main base in CO truck , good fun though.

I was grenadier in your squad once, and with the new aim system, you got yourself a mortar.

Sadly most PR Pub players dont play Korengal as Insurgents properly :( There is simply no proper Cache defence, trying to get 3 squads to protect three caches that Enemy Intelligence has uncovered is impossible.

Numerous times i've had my squad hold a cache against all comers the whole round while all the caches around the map simply fell undefended :( Sadly the vast majority of the team are trying to set ambushes outside the US main to rack up their K.D ratios :(

Another problem is not utilising assets to the full, most notably Forward Outposts. Seriously, just grab 3 guys and a Cell Leader kit! Boom! Your whole team can reinforce the otherside of the map without having to faff around with supply crates.

I sincerly hope this is just 0.8 teething problems, and in two weeks time i can eat my words...NOM NOM NOM!

Yeaaaa someone finally pointed this out. :-P So many rounds watching the outpost lost because no one build anything there.

Also the insurgents can use the MG as well ;-)

so you agree, if done properly, it should be defended by a squad ?

Easily by one squad. Each side is looking down the barrel of a 50cal. The idea of this location is to stop base rapes. But without it you will quickly learn the meaning of a true base rape. Plus its an easy jump into the snow areas...that is unless the insurgents demo the passes. Then its a hike up and over the mountains.
