[AAR] The real MEC mobile artillery

Post by Matrox »

A new player whom I recently play with, crouchingsniper, has recently taught me a technique with grenadier that is particularly interesting!

Having dropped a firebase as MEC in the hills on the left, He told me to grab a grenadier kit, whilst he went storming off in a vodnik just East of the Enemy firebase. he then put down a marker and told me to stand by the 2x ammo crates, and start shelling smoke grenades. i did as instructed, and he then started guiding my shot onto the enemy Firebase!

When I had zero'd it in correctly, and started shelling it with a large supply of shells some 400m away, not only did i manage to rack up 6 kills, but apparently the poor usmc were running around like headless chickens.

If you ever see us with a squad called mortars or artillery, feel free to grab a grenadier kit from the enemy (or other squad if your cheeky) and join our MEC mobile artillery!
If you can find the four ninjas in my post, pm me to find out the prize....

Seems a nice system :D

"A little forward, a little more..."
*4 enemies go orbital*
"There ya go!"

How far is the range of UGLs? Could this be used say by a squad from main using the CP as an arm point?

Was possible to do before, but the revamped grenadier sights make it easier now

Love the new Grenadier sights, have been able to achieve similar results with the grenadier in v.8. Specially on the rooftops of Muttrah

What can we do to stop this? This is clearly not how the grenade launcher was intended to be used.

If you ever go on a training server, grab a whole squad full of grenadiers and fire all round the same target. It looks properly like the morter strikes that the insurgetns get and with careful co-ordination, you can cover a borad area.

Well apparently the M203 can fire accurately ish to 400m, so it's not that un-realistic.

Ahh yesss, taking out whole squads with one shell, them not even knowing you are there. :P Have to say, sending a guy launching off the Hotel ladder is the best :D

LMFAO

What I hear here is 'zomg, someone found an uber tactic, nerf nao!!11'

That's exactly how grenadier is intended to be used, why do you think they added such a long arming distance? To shoot enemies you could take out with your knife? No, to shoot the enemy who is probably too far away for your rifle to be effective or a couple of them happen to be bunched up.

Remember folks, airsupport, tanks, apcs even snipers > grenadier. So when this is happening, think to youself. I can´t kill him, but maybe someone in my team can, I will ask them!

I hope your saying this sarcastic. This is not how they use the launcher in real life and clearly this is a real gamey tactic. If you dislike bunny hoppers, kit stealers and every other gamey tactic you shouldnt use this as well.

Its fun that it works this way but please refrain from using it.

People who say: In real life it works 400 m so this is realistic: Its not :P You dont send a guy out to spot for you so you can fire your grenade launcher!

@Outlawz: Not exactly. The bunched up people yes. But more for people hiding in buildings and stuff. Not to really make sniping kills.

The solution to this is to issue everyone 140mm underbarrel mortars.
