In the Kashan Training map, I have noticed the people love to do nose dives into the ground when they try to take off... Here is how to take off properly.
1) It is possible to take off at 100 alt, however it is best if you hover to 150+ alt to take off from hover
2) While still pressing S (Hover), press W (Thrust) UNTIL you hear the main thruster start up.
3) As the main thruster starts, tilt the front end up and keep your hover on for about 10 seconds after you hear the thrust. (It takes skill to go from a horizontal position, but it takes off well to when you tilt the nose totally vertical).
4) An easier "n00b" way is to hover over to the runway. It takes the same ammount of runway as the larger jets, so be prepaired.
5) Landing is also a challange. It isn't recommended that you try to hover to stop, because you will still do a nose dive.
6) You need to be able to land WITHOUT BREAKS as you land. Try to line up with the runway and hit the runway at approx. 600 speed or less. You have the special markers area to land. It will stop near the end of the runway.
7) You can press S when you hit the landing, however be prepaired to hover.
Good luck takin' off

Re: How to take off in the Harrier
Had a go at this but miserably failed, partly because i use a joystick and not a mouse and keyboard. I just use CTOL tactics at the moment to fly the Harrier. Landing is a bit more tricky with this tactic....

Ahhh & here was me thinking the Harrier was some kind of tunneling machine as i always faceplant into the ground when i try & move from hover to flight. Can this be done via joystick? got it to work with keyboard/mouse but no joy yet with stick.

Re: How to take off in the Harrier
i prefer to get to 600m and go for it
The harrier is not finished...so its not really worth perfecting vertical takeoff methods, as with luck with the next patch it will work correctly, i.e very differently!

Re: How to take off in the Harrier
Pointing up seriously will help you keep control of the harrier at the low speed you start out at. Instead of pointing to the ground and hoping you can pull out of it, just take off like the space shuttle- I usually just put the horizon bar on the very lower marking of the cockpit, hold it and full thrust to take off. 150+ in ALT is a must as you will fall about 100m during this. The angle you hold in the beginning influences where you will be pointing when the thrust kicks in!

I figured out how to vertically land also... https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f141-a ... cally.html

Why and let the newbies FUBAR everything on a public server, why would you want that you wouldnt want a New guy to get in to YOUR A-10 and crash it when it takes off would you? XDCodeC.Seven wrote:Please remove the Training mode -.-

i found a way... i go up to 600 (is that meters cause those gauges should normally display feet ) then do the nose dive, it gives you enough time to pull up and with luck no one saw you
