[AAR] The Luckiest Day Ever

Post by Pressondude »

This was last week, maybe the day after Christmas. I was on the 101st Airborne Clan's server, playing Muttrah City (64player) on the U.S. team. There were unfortunately only about six men per team, so it was pretty easy to gain a foothold. We advanced, shooting down Vodniks and the enemy squad. Things got hairy when I was sitting on a rooftop, just ahead of the rest of my squad, and an enemy APC rolled up. It steamrolled them as they sought cover in the street below. It hadn't seen me. It discharged the entire enemy squad, at which point they proceeded to lay a firebase directly south of me. I opened fire and killed the entire squad, minus the APC driver and gunner, who drove around looking for me. My squadmates in a Cobra came and killed it, but the enemy squad respawned. I once again gunned them down, then destroyed their firebase. I don't remember the game score (we won), but since it was my first week with PR, I was really feeling pleased.

Does anyone else have any stories of crazy luck?

Anytime I can successfully crashland a fully loaded helo after taking RPG/AA fire. My best experience of this was on Muttrah, flying rooftop level on docks. We got hit by two AA missiles, and we bounced across two rooftops and finally skidded to a stop in a parking lot :-P

Other lucky times- Anytime I escape from a doomed aircraft and make it back home alive.

Back in 0.75 I think, having a battle with the cobra, while in a havok (pilots will know the balance here), at the same time getting engaged by an AAV on the ground below, having to run to main base with rockets, missiles, and cannon rounds detonating all around with no exaggeration here.

Surviving all this back to the helipad, only to turn around and get the cobra that was following us with my last AA missile. That was intense.

Or perhaps in 0.6, after getting beat the **** out of in a Black hawk on jabal, burning at the dam, only to have my dedicated engineer/doorgunners repair me desperately as I sped towards the carrier. Got there within about a second of losing power and blowing up. Closest ever..... Cfschris will remember this.

I still have the screnshot of the round, 0 deaths and almost 2000 points with my trusty gunners chris and carebaer I think. :)
