I was just wondering myself today, when the fundraising campaign was on you teased us with that awesome Frigate and some Polish assets. Why didn?t you tease us that time with new features which would be included in this awesome patch. Like the Chinese tank, roadblocks or Russian skins?

Don't get me wrong, I really am loving this update and it improved the game a lot but I could not get why you would tease us with features which are meant to be for a later update?

There are CD keys actually. Its a new one generated by the installer thats tied to your hardware. Heck if you look hard enough, you can even find it in a very obvious spot.

Might be a dumb question, but, how do the Dev's feel about the massive influx of new players?

They never said, that they would be in 1.3.
It has been said since the reveal of 1.3 that 1.3 will be bug fixing update (mainly).
1.4 is supposed to bring in a few new features.

As Microwaife said, we did state in that news post and I quote:
'[R-DEV wrote:2Slick4U;2065541']Project Reality: BF2 Update
Since the release of PR:BF2 v1.2, the Project Reality Team has been keeping busy producing even more content for our award winning modification to Battlefield 2. While the focus for the next version lies especially on bug fixes and overall stability improvements, you can also expect to see an ample amount of gameplay improvements and major game affecting updates in PR:BF2 v1.3.

Further versions will include more content such as several new factions, brand new maps and more! Currently the PR Team is finalizing v1.3 with more info coming up soon, but listed below is a small sneak-peek of two projects that are also being worked on and to be included in later versions: the Type 21 Frigate and Polish Armed Forces faction. You can expect to see a media release in the coming weeks with detailed information outlining specifically what will be included in the PR:BF2 v1.3 release and of course more eye-candy.

The main reason we didn't show the other stuff simply was because we didn't have anything ready to show and we did that news post in a rather short time frame without any notice since Slick popped in one day to say our account was bone dry and we had to do something quick about it, and those are just some things we had on the side to show, even thou I hadn't planned to show my Frigate until after v1.3 was released, and in not such a WIP state, the circumstances required it to show that we still have big, long term gaols for Project Reality and we are far from dead, as recently proven by our latest release :D

Hope that clears some things up for you :)

Oke thanks for the explanation, for Microwaife, I did know that those teases were for a later update but that just made me wonder why DEVs would do that instead of 1.3 teases. But this mainly clears it out, so thank you and keep up the good work!

Any chance we will see more naval vessels in PR? Like patrol boats for island maps?

Also any idea when PR|WW2 might return?

Certain mod development teams are part of Black sands studio's, this is a network to share assets between mods. But it seems this one isn't part of the studio group. Also that M4 looks kind of like it but the M4 is a really common weapon in games...

It's definitely not the M4 model from PR. The one in those screenshots looks pretty shitty (model-wise) to be honest.

Thats not an M4, its a M27 IAR (Infantry Automatic Rifle) It is currently supplementing (but not entirely replacing) the M249 SAW in the United States Marine Corps. That model looks really good, espcially with the PEQ-15.

The weapon model looks original, but the RCO and it's ADS picture looks suspectingly similar to the Project Reality one.

The RL M27 IAR uses the SDO (squad say optic, which combines the 3.5x ACOG model with the Trijicon RMR attached on the top) The ADS picture of the SDO is the same as the M249's ACOG in PR.

EDIT: Nevermind on the model looking good, the textures look rubbish, except for the ACOG (Which I still believe is from PR)
CrazyHotMilf: can you release PR 1.0 today cause its my birthday and i want to play it ? because its gonna be very nice and every thing

the holding animation looks like from PR too.

anyway i have another question:

i have read in the forum that the PR-devs does not make any factions. so only community factions are being worked on.
- why arent you working on new factions ?
- what will happen, if there is no community faction anymore worked on ?
- are you still making assets for current factions ?

and why are some maps being removed almost every release ? is it due to filesize ?

Would it be possible to release a patch for v1.3 to remove and/or v1.4 without the added mini-mods (WWII, Vietnam & Falklands) such as v0.973 to save space and keep the overall quality of the mod to PR-standards?

I doubt that is going to happen, fracturing the community and doubling the build-load on the poor dev who takes it on (currently still Ancientman) is something I believe we would like to avoid. It is 2015, 1TB of space is hovering at around $50US, saving 500-1000MB by removing the minimods would be an illogical thing to do IMHO

PR Devs do make factions/minimods, along side the community, but most are community driven, however some are Dev driven.

In the event of a community faction not being worked on any more, its discontinued.

And yes, we are still working on a few new factions.

As for why maps are removed, it isn't down to file size, PR could be a lot bigger... We remove maps simply because they are either low quality, not fun to play, are not played on any of the servers (as such, just a waste of space and energy keeping them updated), don't offer the gameplay we are looking for in PR, or a combination of the above.
