Thank you for the explanation.[R-DEV]Gaz wrote:The main reasons are;

Re: Campaign 10 Preview #1
Thanks Gaz, being from the World Cup and seeing the Management side of things, I can definitely understand.
That's all I was asking for.
It's still a shame though.

Re: Campaign 10 Preview #1
Without reading the rest of the list from here on, I have to say: I applaud this! Had you said this ahead of the tournament I think you would had more new blood. I would have even tried signing up if I knew this. But I was afraid of going up against the veterans of old campaigns CO wise.[R-DEV]Gaz wrote:The main reasons are;

We can organize community matches like the ones the R-COM team did?
That could be a substitute.

Re: Campaign 10 Preview #1
Yea! That was also a shame it stopped. I even was part of the team at that time
good old times <3 But that would be an excellent idea. Wasn't there a community who did something like that for an event? Thinking about it, think it was PRTA with Iron Eagle (IDF vs MEC ) IDF team dug in to the caves when we won that city.

It does seem like if there had been a front page announcement to this effect, it would have opened up some new people to the possibility.cyberzomby wrote: Had you said this ahead of the tournament I think you would had more new blood. I would have even tried signing up if I knew this.
But I guess that's somewhat academic if the admin team isn't stable or sustainable.
(Thanks for the explanation Gaz.)

Re: Campaign 10 Preview #1
I do not fully understand the problem of not getting enough candidates. As far as I have heard from others who applied, there were at least 10 candidates. Out of those 2 were previous commanders. And 2 more were previously members of command staff of teams. The 2 members who were part of CO staff were there for only one campaign or less, which would I think be welcome for team COs to have an idea how the tournament works. However even if you wanted none of those, you still had at least 6 more to choose from.
Other problems are probably more valid though.

I waited for C10 so much because the C9 was my first campaign and the worst I think, so maybe things will be better in C10 and now this... I'm so disappointed...

Thats all because of fabricate... 4 teams, 4 commanders etc.. WTF?
Return 2 teams, CATA & NATO, or just admin team, and tournament could start very soon....

BF2 PRT is very dead, and probably won't be returning in the near future.TommyGunn wrote:Thats all because of fabricate... 4 teams, 4 commanders etc.. WTF?

I'd be on the look out for a PR Arma 2 Tournament.

Re: Campaign 10 Preview #1
Gaz;1673327']The main reasons are;
1) The admin team being unsustainable. The group we had were devoted, but being worn out quickly and dwindling fast.
2) Not enough new blood willing to step up and lead as commanders. C10 was designed to get away from the usual e-drama. With the same people as previously applied, this was deemed by myself as a huge problem.
3) Tournament players seeming to think that the tournament is somehow bigger than the PR Mod as a whole and should therefore receive precidence as such from senior staff members, and volunteer admins.The attitude shown by some in the past has been a massive hinderance in any kind of stability for the tournament.
4) A completely baseless rumour from an ex-member of the admin team breaching their NDA and running about telling people that commanders had been chosen; when, on inspection. the admin team hadn't even come close to coming to a decision, never mind commander interviews. That admin was removed seperately, shortly before this decision was discussed.
5) All of the above did not support and further the PR brand; therefore the BF2 tournament has been put on indefinate hold.
In time, the BF2 side of things may return. At present, the tournament site will resurface soon as an ARMA2 project. Watch this space.
Not much changes it seems, real shame.

Yes let's all prepare for PRA2 because that game is surely complete enough to run an entire campaign.
The community is losing out because of a few? Those problems seem like standard fair for this kind of situation, and I'm willing to bet there were admins who presented many alternatives.
Quite a shame you guys seemed to have taken the easy way out on this one, I'm very disappointed.

I'm so totally heart broken. Murphy is disappointed in me, call the presses, someone, we have to set this right. Let's restart the tourney! I know it isn't ready and the problems that he doesn't understand still exist but I can't take his disappointed stare!Murphy wrote:Yes let's all prepare for PRA2 because that game is surely complete enough to run an entire campaign.
