Tripwire Claymores.
I would think it would not be an extensive effort, meld the grenade trap tripwire model code, the ability to deactivate with a wrench from the landmine code, with the claymore code.
I would also extend the length of the tripwire to something like 3 meters.
And give another common kit the wrench weapon, so the tripwire claymore can be disarmed in field.
This way, a Rifleman AP kit for the VietCong/Minh could effectively trap a 6meter span with two deployed tripwire claymores.

It may be realistic but adding proximity claymores will just make for frustrating gameplay. Nowhere in the jungle will be safe.

War is hell, jungle is hell, guerrilla warfare is hell, jungle warfare against local guerrillas is DEATH.
Yeah add those longer wires(3m) but make it so it takes more time to deploy as you have to tie that wire to something. I would also suggest making those less visible, now its thick, black line that can be easily seen.
