Try running PR in windowed mode. It worked for me. Also if your getting a low fps try decreasing your view distance down to about 75-80 % .
Hope it works for you.

Cheers

Wow something actually worked

Code: Select all

Try running PR in windowed mode.
worked for me too thanks mOsInNaGaNt, not my preferred way but I can live with it, hopefully someone can now find out why mumble crashes in full screen but works OK in windowed mode for some of us at least???????

Thanks mOsInNaGaNt, nice and simple idea someone should have though of already. There's also programs that force "false" fullscreen mode in windows (aka remove borders and etc), which would provide for a seamlessly "normal" PR experience. Also, it has the added bonus of letting you screw around while the game loads with no problems. I'm gonna try it out, gonna report back soon.

if that works for you, i realy dont know, why this way solves the problems for everyone, not for me :|

its so frustrating ....

I still got these problems, really anoying. still found no solution to solve the issue exept minimizing PR every minute to reenable mumble which is totally anoying...

Some other ideas? Thank you very much

greetings ax
At this point I'll need to see the System specs info...
Open PRLauncher, click Support->Copy to Clipboard button-> then paste it in this thread.

If you know how to find the audio chipset on your board, post that info and the driver number in this thread too.

Yes, that is a problem.

You need to learn how to shut down as many background processes as possible.
You can use a program called GameBooster to automate shutting down programs.

Yes, that is a problem.
if this really is the problem, i gonna buy some new memory. The fact that my computer is very old was the reason why i didnt bought any new memory yet.

some news incoming...

first of all i tried gamebooster without success.

as running in windowed mode also doesnt work i tried to lower the viewing distance. at this point i figured out, that i couldnt lower it (to the recommended 70%). If i lower it, hit apply, close the options and reopen them again its switched back to 100%. couldnt get it lower.

at this point i was that frustrated that i decided to reinstall my whole windows including formatting hard disc.
After setting up BF2 incl. every patch to 1.5 again i reinstalled Project Reality.
Then a problem apeared which i almost forgot: Updating from 1.029 to 1.036 caused the "1212 Error", so i had to update it manually (source: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... 2-a-5.html)
Once you install the 1.0.32.0_to_1.0.33.0 patch, you should be able to use the PRLauncher's updater to install the patches below
Didnt work for me, i had to update it up to 1.036 manually. Might there be a connection between those problems?

End of the story: after spending hours for backup, formating, reinstalling windows xp, setting up all drivers to newest version i still have the same supression-issues as before...

Id be incredibly thankfull if theres a solution for that problem :/

greetings

Do you have any other version of mumble installed, including the old PRMumble 1.0.0.4Beta?
If you do, I suggest uninstalling those.

I'm not really sure what else to say.

If you go to C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Mumble
and open the console.txt file, scroll to the bottom and copy and paste the last 40 or so lines here, we might be able to see the error message, which could help us find the root cause of this.

<W>2014-01-21 23:34:01.066 TextToSpeechPrivate: Failed to allocate TTS Voice
That is bad. I don't know if it's the cause of the disconnects, but let's fix it and see what happens.

Start PRmumble.
COnfigure->Settings
Tick the "Advanced tickbox on bottom left in picture below.
then do this:

Then shutdown and restart PR and PRMumble to test.
Play for a while or until PRMumble disconnects again.
GO back to your log and see if that error message still occurs.
Let me know.

Mumble managed to start up this time but it still loses link and suppresses every minute or so.

Regarding the (<W>2014-01-24 22:18:50.400 TextToSpeechPrivate: Failed to allocate TTS Voice) error, "Read Back own messages" was already disabled by default .. But I did select it for testing purposes but there wasn't any change. I still get the error message in the console.txt.

I did notice this. Not sure what it means though.

<W>2014-01-24 22:18:46.544 ServerHandler: Failed to remove UDP from QoS

Thanks

Also, Is there a log that shows whats going on when mumble is running? .. and not just when it starts up.

I get disconnected from the server as soon as I connect.

This can be due to a version mismatch between the server and the client. Ask the server owner about the version that its being used, and get that version.
This can also occur with some home routers if they are unable to handle QoS (Quality Of Service) being set on the packets. This can be disabled in mumble in the "Network" tab; you will need to check the "Advanced" checkbox to see this.
source: FAQ/English - Mumble.

So I'm not sure if you've tried this yet. There is two ways to go about testing this:
1. Turn on QoS on your router. Test
1a. or Turn off QoS on your router. Test.

2. Start PRmumble.
COnfigure->Settings
Tick the "Advanced tickbox on bottom left in picture below.
then Click Network on the left colum, then UNTICK the 'Use Quality of Service' tickbox.
Then click APPLY.
Test.

Which router do you have?
