However it still do reward kills, but do not punish deaths. Wich i find pretty unbalanced. And a lot of actual teamworkefforts are not even rewarded... (not sure, but cant remember getting a single ammogiving-point, or repair-point etc). But even without ABR, theres still whoring just for the end-round-credit.
I agree with you to some extent ("lets use asbects of STATS to trick the ones who dont care about the overall importants of teamplay into doing teamwork"), but in many cases doing the best for your team means not reaching top5 of the round, and vice versa.
Overall i think the abscense of accumulated stats would increase teamplay, and promotions could be given by the Community (eg. "player recommendation thread").
Just dont get to hungup about it.

Solution: Download the ABR Client. You can do so here. ABR's mainpage can be found here: http://www.battlefieldranking.net/

Like i already mentioned before, that link is dead.

totally agree, no points for transport pilots no points for repair. (I spent bloody ages fixing every bridge which was cut on al Basrah as Insurgent and got naff all for it lol.)
I'd rather respect people from ingame and give them credit on here in the player reccomendation thread than have a player think he can demand respect by flashing his e-peen k/d:r. Stats do not tell the full story.
Often players with good stats actually suck ingame. they are a liability to your team because they are not interested in much else apart from their own stats.

OMG, I fixed the link. Look at me! Look at me! Sorry about the dead link, but again - LOOK AT ME - I HAVE A LINK THAT WORKS.

1) fixed link - check
2) being snotty - check

Now, has anybody considered that people might want to download that client just to get rid of the promotions at the beginning of the game?

And again, we are discussing something that has been discussed countless of times. Did the original author of this thread ask your opinion? Let me check - NO.

3) beeing arrogant and an *** - check.
4) Flamed for grammar and spelling - check
My job here is done.

You spelled 'being' wrong..... didn't want that pending to hang out there too long... ;) (j/k)

Actually, I kinda like getting that PFC promotion every once in a while. Gives me a little warm & fuzzy feeling... :-)

I'm a recovering stataholic and have been trying to stay away from ABR servers.. I did mention once that the tank drivers don't get recognition for the gunners kills.. without the driver the gunner wouldn't be alive :) but other than that i don't care to see my stats outside of a round.. like vbf2.

I hate stats, its what has ruined battlefield games. (people tk to get the J10 so they can go rape the carrier all round to up their KD:R then wave their forum willy on BF2S like people care lol.)
I really wish all servers would stop using ABR, It is annoying. It doesnt even report stats correctly (not logged ANY UK hours, weapon/kit stats are wrong for PR anyway.)
Better games to be had on unranked servers imo, people will go the extra mile in squads for you because they are not bothered about protecting KD:R or getting some award.
Also, how can some servers be ranked AND have shorter respawn times? I avoid short respawn time servers like the plague, just full of nilla players with nilla attitude if you ask me.
Well stats don't ruin PR. As I said, they promote teamwork. Unless the lone wolfers who are just looking for kills get a hell of a lot of kills and very little deaths they will rarely score well. (rediculous sniper multiplier excluded but that will be addressed in 0.7 along with the scoring audit).

Erm, it does punish deaths. I take it you haven't noticed the KDR bonus?

You're right about certain team actions not giving points though when it should. That's a major problem but will hopefully be addressed in the audit. The more points people can be given for teamwork as opposed to lone wolf antics the more people will play as a team. That's fact. People like to do well and a lot of people like to have it recorded. And if that means they get recognised as being the guy who transported everyone all game or whatever then great, everyone's a winner. :)

I noticed the KDR bonus before, its great, I hope that isn't going to disappear?

hmm.. is it possible to make tanks and vehicles run out of gas? just thinking you could have a tanker that has to refuel the vehicles randomly through the battle, but that might be going too far for a video game, anyone remember the old tanker trucks in DC? would be cool to be an engineer or crewman driving in a convoy of supply trucks / tankers that had to get from A to B with a convoy of armor support securing locations and a designated path, say you got to checkpoint 1 and had to turn the flag from neutral to occupied before moving to the next location? just reading the last post about getting points for doing things other than kill, would be cool to provide support for an entire convoy instead of just a VIP SUV (which is still cool! and happens 'irl') :)

Only problem I have with the ABR client is that it doesn't seem to work anymore. It worked fine for a week or 2 and than I just started getting errors while launching

When I launch it, it gives "Problem with writing the file for rewrite" ... press OK, it continues to go to the browser. I can see the the Public Ranked World: 4 / PR 0.5 : 11 etc etc servers, but when I click it I get the same error again "Problem with writing the file for rewrite".

Again you can press OK but now gives "Problem writing file" , again you can press OK and it gives "I/O error 103" and nothing shows up after that

I tried reinstalling several times, but it doesn't help =/

I'd have to agree with him though.
It was a clever idea and now they have advanced it for 2142.
I think they must have though 'How do MMORPGs get such a HUGE audience and rake it in?'....The lure of development and advancing and effectively becomming the best.
The points do exactly that....in my opinion :)

I like stats and I would love to see stats on how accurate you are with any given weapon. By that I mean how many rounds fired compared to how rounds hit.
I don't think that is possible and if it were it would not be worth the time taken away from creating more great maps and cool toys.
I love get promoted because I'm shallow and vain but it really doesn't mean that much in this game.
On the other hand, the few people out there with officer ranks earned them and are worth following and listening to unlike vBF.
