Re: telling friend from foe
Check your map a lot, using landmarks, ex if no blue dots near bunker than anybody you see is an enemy. Also the uniforms can make a big difference for example MEC is tan with black hair, and army is sort of gray color, etc. But be careful... never tell a friend or foe looking at the helmet/head. Was playing on insurgent and saw a man in desert camo wearing a face wrap... hesitated for a second, and then i died.

I use faces. Theres the 4 basic face/head types which will let you ID the target-
US
1. Peach skin, medium brightness
2. African American (self explanatory)
MEC
1. VERY DARK Hair
2. Do the beard check. MEC is the only faction with bearded soldiers.
PLA
1. Extremely bright faces, (not being racist) yellowish-tinged faces.

This is just what I've observed over all my time playing PR. I also identify uniforms as well, but the facecheck is the most basic and easiest verifier.
Insurgents, well, thats another story. I usually have to go all uniform check on those. Not too much difference in face/head than Americans![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)
