well, as Ron White once said "You can't fix stupid."

but as for your problem of the bots stealing and single-seating vehicals, can they just be "taught" to leave them alone? I really have no idea what you SP devs do with the bots to make them workable in PRSP. i know you edit maps so that they can use them, but thats about it.

nah in DOD a while back i out shot a guy who was aim botting, granted he had a horrible shooting pattern so i just kept popping up and plugging him in the face while he was chambering another round

I'd give my right arm to be able to re-work a lot of the bot code, but sadly that's all locked up inside of the main engine out of my reach, it would be so refreshing to see some more complex behaviour from them, and perhaps some system where they defer taking vehicles if a human player is within a given radius.

At least they stop when you ask for a ride. :-)

I do have memories of early BF2, when "I need a ride" was usually interpreted by the bots (or seemed to be) as "I want to die, please run me over by braking too late" :P

If I had all the time in the world, and better knowledge of assembly, I'd consider giving it a shot, but it's far too time consuming and immense a project unless EA/DICE felt like sharing the source for them. (Which would be nice, but isn't likely unfortunately :( )

There is actually a mod for regular BF2 that greatly increases the capabilities of the bot AI, but I hear it's really system-intensive.
BF2SP: Professional AI mod for Battlefield 2 - Mod DB

It seems like maybe something akin to this could be folded into pr at some point?

Hitting a target is one thing a machine can do better than any human. But, PR isn't a darts match, it's about getting your character into position to take that shot.

The bots always yell I NEED A MEDIC HERE!If your the medic,it's CRAZY.MEDIC!MEDIC!MEDIC!MEDIC!That's all you hear.I wish the bots wouldn't call for a medic unless they really need them. The soldier who cried medic..........I was just playing I got 1145 soldier points,554 points for capturing flags, and 33 kills.(The medic kit has no pistol, but the iron sights are really accurate)But if your medic and you get wounded, you can always pull out your pack.Half the time, the bots are crying medic while you pull your pack. What I like about the bots being stupid,is they're easier to kill.=)

One issue (might got mentioned but dunno) is that all co-op servers seem to run bots on low difficulties due the impression that putting it higher would mean all bots would end up as "aimbots", headshotting everything in sight and destroying everything while in vehicles, which obviously isn't the case, bots don't turn to terminators up to 7/10 difficulty, they're better shots but the chances of dying due a random headshot are the same as on 1/10 difficulty, however they do turn smarter and more aware.

For example, if you got the Xmas map pack and played Desert Rats, you'll know that the British bots always attack the bunkers through the north gate and MEC always through the south gate, but you'll never see them attack from the east gate or flank around the bunker complex, because the difficulty setting turns them that stupid.
I placed down several AI waypoints on that map to suggest different approach areas for bots to use, but you'll only see them used if the AI difficulty is high enough. :(

I think perhaps part of the problem is that bots tend to do things which are not perhaps tactically incorrect so much as bizarre and unnatural; for instance, sometimes bots, even on higher levels, tend to oscillate rapidly between prone and standing like they're doing some kind of satanic war dance.

Hehehe, this topic made my day.

Anyway, I only use singleplayer (vanilla) for target practise. I just lie down on a roof and try to kill every enemy and friendly as soon as possible.
