I see the Puma more as an addition to the British arsenal to go along side the current choppers rather than replacing or filling in any gaps.
though really...of the things the British team needs asset wise another chopper isn't the most important thing, especially since problems with other choppers are yet to be corrected.

I know rhino, I just meant that if it was ingame it would be interesting. But those little details... I guess we don't really need them :) again great work Salmon...

And Rudd I agree with you, the British need some other assets instead of fixing the chopper. Not the most priority imo. Would be nice to see though, the Merlin is a nice chopper

no its not, but if we can get it for a little bit of extra work its worth it, its not like we are talking about making it from scratch :p

And making this new chopper wouldn't really get in the way of fixing the merlin either.

Rudd is saying that fixing the Merlin is more important than making anouther chopper, which really it is :p

Got to agree with that, the Brits already have four helicopters in-game which is a little overkill. I'd much rather see the OPFOR get some additional helicopters like the Mi-35 etc or even better more work put into British land vehicles like the Jackal or Mastiff.

The model and texture look great though.

Hey guys just stay on topic, mi-24 is another thread...

I don't know what exactly is the famous merlin lag, I didn't played PR before 0.87, but I think it should be easier to fix than create another model from scratch..

but the fact is, as far wikipedia says, Puma its only a shorter/older version, probably neither the UVs need to be changed, so is pretty easy to "make" another model..

the textures are even easier, is only a matter of changing one layer on the .psd

You guys simply dont get the fact here that we are not talking about making a new chopper from scratch (like we would for most op-for choppers) we are talking about some relativity simple modifications of this model to turn it into a RAF Puma which doesn't take very long to do...

In other words, we can get anouther chopper ingame for a little bit of extra work.

humn, the nose is different too, and it seems a little bit narrower, I'll try something tomorrow...

About the size, I scaled the Cougar to 15.53m length (wikipedia) but compared to the Dice blackhawk it seems over sized, in wikipedia says Blackhawk has 19,76m...

don't know what is wrong, maybe the BH 19,76 meters is including the rotors...

maybe this one is 19m

€: found out that the German Wiki of the MH-60 is different : http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sikorsky_UH-60#Technische_Daten
its all in german but the important lines are

Rumpflänge (length without rotors) 15,26 m
Gesamtlänge (length with rotors) 19,76 m

Don't worry about the size of the chopper, the blackhawk is from bf2, and how to say this...they fubarded the scale of many vehicles, you're good, the others are wrong. ;)
And yes, sometimes the size includes the rotor, the figures can change.

Dont worry about the vBF2 Asset scales, pretty much all vBF2 vehicles are way smaller than they are meant to be (even some of PR's are too just to match up with the vBF2 ones) but for your chopper its best to make it just the r/l size.

I made the all the modifications I could notice

slightly changed air filters and exaust.
removed part of the rear landing gear cover.
removed that thing under the tail
shorthened the body.
resized windows
remodeled nose and cabin.

really nice work so far.

Sorry on thous refs for the RAF Puma not turning up yet the MAs have some up short so far on that front.

Just one main point I would like to point out with the rotors blades. At the moment they are looking rather blockey and they may also be coming down a little low. I would put some more polies into them to make them look smoother etc. They are only seen in this state when the chopper is on the ground, not in use and when the thing is powering up and when its in flight a 4 tri double side plane is used for the "blurred rotors" so adding some extra tris doesn't really hurt performance too much :)

Here is the Z-9's rotor blades for you to go off if its some help :)

Although these rotor blades could be better since they dont fully follow the correct shape etc should give you a basic idea on them :)

Keep up the good work :)

Damn, as fast as usual Salmonella !

@Rhino : I see pods on this Z9, they were not here last time I saw this chopper... :-P What are you cooking...

BTW, if you want as well to do a French skin for the Puma...

Nice one ! It's really interesting for us (FF), we are the primary user of the Puma. :)
