the M14A1 SAW could be an secondary LMG, since it would only require small modifications on the current M14 and the alternative kits are open for some other stuff, since scopes where not used by regular inf back in 'nam

I don't think the M14E2/A1 saw very much action.

Not every soldier, the SL the M60 gunner and the grenaider.
This is part of PR and from 90% of my sources (books and pictures) M60 gunners carried pistols on their hips, as did M79 grenaders. Squad leaders are a given when it comes to pistols (if we want to go for real realism then we should give the US crewman only pistols as well)

You do know that the NVA was more or less an conventional faction right, with tanks, chopper and airplanes included right?

Not to mention that these tanks, choppers and airplanes were some of the best available at the time. You can say alot of bad things about the Soviets, but noone can deny that they produced some great weaponry.

The N.V.A had everything the Americans had more or less, they just couldnt use it to the effect we (the Americans) did because we where better trained then they where. Ive read one instance where a S.O.G team saw helicopters during one of their recon missions, but the choppers where hidden underneath the jungle canopy and had camo netting draped over them. For realisms sake I'm kind of hoping we dont see N.V.A helicopters at all (We had a lot of air to air battles with planes, and there was at least one battle between N.V.A and US tanks). The N.V.A should really stick to ground movements on foot and trucks, sticking to the gurlla tactics they did in real life.
