I thought they were FOBs, not firebases?

Re: PR:V Firebase ?
no the current fob in PR was wrongly named a Fire base and is now called a fob but people still call it a Firebase and a FOB in PR isnt a fob in reality, more of a Lying up point (LUP) as a FOB is rather large containing a garrison

No I'm certain its a Firebase... hence the Artillery pieces and circular fashion of the base, however if you meant a CP in game...
if that's not what you meant, you got a lot to learn about your countries efforts in Vietnam![Razz :p](./images/smilies/imported_icon_razz.gif)

Re: PR:V Firebase ?
Use the round log wood bunkers from Yamalia, Perfect for a NVC hmg nest.
I think using PR's static is fine, just make it darker so it merges better with the dark jungle bushes.
As long as I get a m60, some shotgun and a satchel charge... lol
------------
PS: Dont you guys know the difference between a FireBase and a Forward Operational Base ? FB- FOB.
A FOB is like a Main base in PR. A FB (firebase) is an outpost for the firing squads (combat sqs) so they can communicate with the FOB. For artillery, air or situation assessment. A fire base can sometimes be no more than a radio, a neat little spot and guns, lots of them. When you see Iraq videos with USMC firing from a rooftop in groups, Thats a firebase. That's the building they decided to use for logistics. Thats the building they defend. They don't build much often, just a hmg nest and some cover rubble.
Now if you really wanna push, A Forward Outpost is what they build when they want to move the FOB up. IF the forward outpost is sustainable, The FB and FOB move up.
EDIT: What you see in that picture is a FOB, not a FB. I count 5 foxholes on each sides, Trenches and enough barracks for 200 if not more. That's not a firebase. It probably also has a mcdonalds. lol
You need to understand that since ww2, War became guerilla warfare. Guerilla warfare means you are dropped in a soup of hostility. You cannot set up a airtight front line, ever. So you resort to little bubbles of concentrated firepower, FOBs, FB, FO's. You try to spread them to a radius of quick reaction, but often its impossible due to certain regions being more hostile.
Afghanistan is a good exemple. It's Desert and mountain tops, nothing easier to defend right? Wrong! Since guerilla warfare, You cannot tell who's the enemy until it goes down. So you have no way of telling weither your area is secure or not. Even if you see the people that maybe tommorow will shoot you.
This type of occupation is bound for failure, but anyways lets not get political. Lets just say its unviable for soldiers and the people, extremely profitable for the military industry. It was the same in vietnam.
The VC's we're south vietnam guerilla that we're fidel to Ho Chi Minh and the north socialist policy. Some of these south vietnamese worked for USA as the south vietnamese army (ING, ANA in middle east now). The TET offensive is a good exemple of the "dropped into a soup of hostility". As on that offensive, VC's guerillas even assaulted the US embassy in Saigon, while all major occupied cities of Vietnam we're simultaneously attacked.

then that would be a Base of fire surelyJohnnyTheIED wrote:

and a firebase in Vietnam is what i and many others had previously stated
From this I can clearly see you have no understanding of what a fire base is as in the pic you can clearly see artillery pieces and mortar pits... or because there is only two cannon you are confused as to what it is which is a small Firebase. also you can tell it is not a fob as it is so small and if you strain your eyes you can make out an observation tower and the TOC bunkerJohnnyTheIED wrote: What you see in that picture is a FOB, not a FB. Re: PR:V Firebase ?
That heli pad idea sounds awesome if they do that in PR:Vsalaminl wrote:How will the PR:V firebase will look like and what can you build, any suggestions ?
1. I was thinking about an constructible helicopter landing pad.
2. Barbedwire with cans attached to them.
3. A foxhole with an wooden roof with sanbags on it.
this one could be nice for a firebase
