Re: Describe Your "Tactical Style"
Trying to move 'fast' without opening yourself up for a massive raping seems nigh on impossible in public servers. I really do believe in rapidly advancing and always surprising the enemy, but a lot of people seem to be at odds with doing it.

Re: Describe Your "Tactical Style"
High speed, low drag...

I'm usually too impatient to defend for an excessive amount of time, but I'll jump at the opportunity to attack. I like to set the pace of the battle, not the enemy. For me it's knowing when you have the upper hand and using it to your advantage. When shit hits the fan, a cool head and 'twitch' reaction times prevail.

You don't move? Bullet in your head! (Getting TK'ed in his head by a pistol)
or
You don't hold your fire? Firing Squad! (Getting TK'ed by his whole squad)

Its one of those that can take some work (and often 4-6 guys who are used to working together) but once it clicks for you you will be a much more effective fighting force.Mikemonster wrote:Trying to move 'fast' without opening yourself up for a massive raping seems nigh on impossible in public servers. If I am moving it definitely has to be quickly and quietly; don't get seen, and if you do don't be where they expect you to be. Get right up in their faces before they even know you're there.

Re: Describe Your "Tactical Style"
Well it does keep the game going because while all the hard chargers are bulling forward, somebody is sneaking behind and overwhelming the poor saps who decided to defend.
Then depending on how far overextended the HSLD crew is, the other team rolls up flags and then the recriminations about how nobody was defending the flag start.

This was extremely successful on the 100p server (passworded, so there is some kind of filter to it).Mikemonster wrote:Trying to move 'fast' without opening yourself up for a massive raping seems nigh on impossible in public servers. 8-man-squad "rush" managed to cap NC and Docks in Muttrah as MEC.

Only to lose the game in the long run. But at least you felt good for a few minutes.goguapsy wrote:This was extremely successful on the 100p server (passworded, so there is some kind of filter to it).

Re: Describe Your "Tactical Style"
When all else fails be stealthy. Get a small squad. Go prone and sneak up on the enemy.
Playing as Mec on Kashan the US and Mec got into a stalemate at north and south bunkers. I walked around the outside of the base along the walls Proning in some instances to avoid detection.
Made it to north bunker. Had a look found mortars and heaps of defenses and a FOB inside the bunker. While everyone was looking south I got down crawled into the bunker. Saw a guy spawn quickly hid didn't shoot and watched him walk past me (With my gun trained on his head of course) didn't shoot when he went away. I made a sprint for the FOB threw an incendary down ran upstairs and hid in the toilets.
And a guy that was looking for me was really paranoid and ended up teamkilling one before grenading the toliets where i was hiding.
It would've been great if i had a squad with me but my mic broke so i couldn't convince them.
But the moral of the story. When nothing is working sneak in blow something up and hopefully keep it blown up. And hold off until backup arrives and win.
If you play metal gear solid 4 you'll know what i mean. Don't shoot unless you need to.

Re: Describe Your "Tactical Style"
Stealthy incursions can be very entertaining. Not very fun if you 'sneak' for 15 minutes and end up on the wrong end of a grenade trap however.
I tend to NOT lead infantry squads because I don't have the psychological gift of yelling on the internet (and I live in an apartment building). I mostly lead air assets and support roles if nobody else does the job.
Few days ago I join PRTA in the middle of the Kashan alt round on the US side and I was like WTF!?!? There was no CAS/JETS squad. So I make a CAS squad and proceed to fly the apache with great success and my team won.

I ride into the battle with horses.
But really, I like playing slowly, taking time to set up properly, be it attacking or defending. Im defending more though, because noone else will...

I/We bumble round in/as an APC most of the time, pew-pewing at anything we can find. Until we discovered how fun the MEC Gazelle is on Burning Sands. <3 Gazelle>BMP-3>BRDM>Everything else <3
In more seriousness: half of the tactics can be summed up as : 'Do something which your opponent doesn't expect. Unless what you do is monumentally stupid.' For me, as INF, this applies to working as small 2 or 3 man units, and use the small size to our advantage. Sneaking up on FOBs and other non-frontline work, essentially engaging enemy units reinforcing from what they would expect to be a safe area, since the squad just wouldn't work in the main points of battle. Why not 6 man squads? I don't have the inclination to lead public squads, and my TS works on voice activation. Making anything but mumble a pain in the backside to mute the mic for.

Im too afraid to ever use my style because of the general incompetence i've been finding, where I have to do everything in order for the whole squad to stay alive.

Funnily enough death of certain squad members can be beneficial.Sgt.BountyOrig wrote:where I have to do everything in order for the whole squad to stay alive.

I usually use my squad to soak up bullets. Improves my KDR beautifully.

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

Re: Describe Your "Tactical Style"
With APCs on Muttrah my tactic is to use the APC as an mobile AA station. Today we took out four choppers with the beast, and a cobra. We took out 2 more hueys in combination with a BTR in the water and another Cobra by damaging them, forcing to fly over the sea to the USS Essex, and the BTR finishing the Job. We all love "Da Beast".
