SemlerPDX wrote:That would literally kill the game. And this has never been the standard for any server AFAIK - to kick out players enjoying the game just because the last Admin had to run out to dinner. Should we take a poll here?
Do you, Suchar, make sure your server is offline every time the last Admin leaves the server, to be turned online again once the next Admin wants to join and start playing?
No, it hadn't been a standard for any server until last year when it was introduced.
Yes, we do make sure our server is killed by the last admin who leaves it. It is fairly easy to implement. Just in march PRTA main server has been stopped 15 times.
btw its offtopic, its HOG thread after all
SemlerPDX wrote:Given everything I wrote in my previous reply regarding the number of routes that players have to deal with disruptive players, in what way would we be expected to assume that the server being online for a period between the last PR Admin leaving and the next one joining would fall under the category of not being properly administrated, that this would be considered bringing PR into disrepute?
Let's not split hairs here and pay attention to the clearly obvious spirit of this license in that servers require a sufficient PR Admin base and need to provide a means to their players to deal with issues in a fair and friendly way through preferred contact methods of their choosing. Like others, our server can have Admins online in TS3/Discord but perhaps not in game at the time, and we emphasize that to players over time. Many routes for help.
Even in it's peak, PR had plenty of servers with periods of absence between Admins on the server, that's just the randomness of life and our many different regional time zones. Does not matter that the population as a whole is less than it was.... would be unwise to shut down servers between one Admin logging out and another logging in. I would feel terrible for the players if that was a standard on any PR Server anywhere.
It had never been that important to keep a server adminned, but it changed drastically due to the increase in griefing-related activities. It is probably unnoticeable for COOP community so you don't have that issue. In case of 'deployment' servers it is a huge issue, however.
I'm here to give feedback on this *lovely* server.
A couple days ago, to be precise on 17.04.2020. I joined HOG on an insurgency round to play a bit with my friends.
You can see what happened in the link that follows:
As you can clearly see in the video, the person behind the alias Haley clearly has some power trip going on, and isn't concerned about being a proper administrator on his server.
Now I know that my whole reaction to him telling me to GTFO wasn't the most mature one, but he should have reacted better, for example with a warning or a kick even. But I guess it doesn't satisfy him?
Also, as far as I saw, there isn't a rule which forbids players to go near admins when they're on their period.
This whole interaction perfectly shows how HOG has been for years. And that needs to change.
I propose the removal of their server licence, as their admins are killing off the already small community with immature bullshite like this. Either that or they need to take a good hard look in the mirror and realize they can't treat players like that.
Here's to hoping that we get a better alternative to HOG for the poor sods that don't have another choice at the moment.
pwner_pt wrote:the video shows that you got kicked...depending on your words
it means that he did fine.
no, its not fine.
a good admin team would simply not interact with a sentence like his, because its just not worth it.
every night there are more accuses and offences towards all kinds of people which would make a ban (not a kick as you said, he got banned) reasonable...
simply ignore such a sentence as an admin or start a discussion. maybe warn somebody for it... but not a kick or ban!!
it was just his opinion in that moment (and as you can see very well, the amount of bs is pretty high at that time). his words were true and that admin took it personally... much to personally
Just another day on HOG where admin power abuse is the standard... A warning would have been in place here, but absolutely not a ban, not even a kick...
Would the devs just man up and remove their server license for good already? Like come on it has been multiple years of this shit, and all sides, all cliques/friend groups are saying the same thing. Not a weekend blacklist, not a strongly written PM. You're dealing with mini trumps and you are the useless US gov letting them do whatever they want.
They aren't able to understand/attempt to properly deal with hackers, they have old men that act like 12 years like haley who goes from one second firing over friendly heads to banning someone because they said thats why I don't play NA. Like what is going on? Do the devs want to just put a sign up that says too big to fail and stop pretending like we have community standards?
Put it to a public vote in the general forum and see what the community says, you know the people that play this game and make it what it is. The servers don't make the game, the players do.
Lots of good times with the people on the server, and plenty of HOG members are great, but the upper management and server administration mentality is toxic.
lespyd wrote:We don't allow people who repeatedly call our community n-words, and you will never be allowed here.
Repeatedly? I jokingly said it in a locked squad with a few select people. Yes it was my bad and that ban is one of the legit ones you have, I'll take full ownership for that fuck up on my part. The post I made above has nothing to do with me being an idiot on the server, and it is not in response to any action against myself.
Thats why I didn't bring it up, or try to appeal. Its about the community and all the players, not just one.
Stop calling for the Devs.
Players kept joining HOG over other Competitors in the past and continue to do so. Everyone (who isnt banned) I know who complains about HOG keeps joining it anyways.
^^
True. And that was common thing during EU morning and mid day play times. Sometimes, people on server would play like admins are there, but there were trolls, griefers and sometimes hackers in those hours. But biggest problem was map rotation, so you would end up on map whit layer nobody wanted to play, and that would lead server to die fast. Right now, I do not know what is situation and if HOG improved in that department, since I did not played game in those hours for long time.
Thanks for the specific feedback on what times - we've had a few admins sign up during those times who are going through our admin training course currently.

Maybe year, If you would like to be exactly. Many people (including me) wrote when admins were not on server on this thread. Can not confirm If this is still happening, as I did not played on HOG in long time. We clear now?
