Thanks but the arch of the cockpit has changed shape a bit since you're version and I can pretty easily manipulate the 3p glass to match the 1p if need be, still trying to decide if it's better to have 1p glass or not as some jets dont have it, depends on the level of detail of the texture I guess and if there are any features needed emposed on it like the Harrier glass has.

My results show that 80% of our Jets had no 1p Canopy Glass at all. These are mainly made up of vBF2 models which this seemed to DICE's standard for BF2, and most other jets have taken this standard. Only 10% of our Jets have any detailed texture for their 1p glass, and the Harrier is really the only one that needs this, the Tornado's is so low rez it just looks like **** and would probably be better to have it removed. Even the Harrier's texture right now is a bit counterproductive with its low rez for 1p; I'm guessing it shares the same 3p texture for 1p.


I think unless we are going to do really high-resolution textures with lots of scratches and the like on them, or any other key details like the Harrier's 1p texture, it is probably best not to have any Canopy Glass for the 1p Cockpit Model. If you also go with high res glass textures, then is it worth the extra memory of those high res DXT5 textures?
Standardise our jets to have no 1p Canopy Glass, if we choose to, is much easier since most of them are already there and updating vBF2 jets to have glass is waaay too much effort to consider.

So unless the majority disagree, I'm not going to have any 1p glass for the Super Etendard.


Our Choppers are a different story. Without looking at them, I believe a much higher percentage have 1st person glass canopies, except for the vBF2 models which like the jets, don't have any 1p glass. Would need to separate topic to go into this further.

Updated the Falklands Community Tasks with the Super Etendard Cockpit Texturing Task for anyone who might be interested in making them :mrgreen:

French Naval Attack Jet used by the Argentine Navy during the Falklands War that carriers the AM-39 Exocet Anti-Ship Missile which is the main threat to the new Type 21 Frigate & the Atlantic Conveyor which have little defence against it. Ingame it will also be armed with two R.550 Magic Short Range Air to Air Missiles primarily for defence against other aircraft, with possibly more armament load-outs for other scenarios.

The model is complete, with partial export/coding (missing LODs, cols and full coding) and the 3rd person textures are partially done (if anyone wants to finish them off let me know).

The main thing missing (that no one is working on as of yet), is the 1st Person Cockpit Textures so this task is open to anyone in the community willing to give it a shot.

The Cockpit has been fully modelled, UVed and got AOs baked for it (AOs may still require a little tweaking/cleaning).

It requires full Diffuse, Specular and Normal textures in 2048x2048 (may be later downscaled to 1024 but unlikley) with refrences provided, including a full online manual (in French) which the base textures for the instruments and other items could be lifted directly from:

This a a perfect task for someone wanting to try out texturing! :D

If you're up for giving it a shot I'll send you over all the files and refs I have.

All you really need is Photoshop, although you can use other tools like GIMP or other painting tools if you prefer, and can view the mesh/textures in BFMeshView or the BF2Editor if you don't have/want to use 3DsMax etc.

Showcasing current progress. Only left side and some details on the central panel are left, well and the stick. Not sure if i´ll be able to do the seat and the walls/metal stuff of the cockpit as there are people who can do those better than i.
