also is that a CROWS turret on top of the ASLAV-PC?
Well I'd imagine that since the effort has been made to model the ASLAV from the ground up, that no it is not going to be a reskin of a LAV 25...

I Could really use some help texturing the wheels If anyone can shed some light...
In the past I have always just manually built a 'heightmap' in Ps, run normal filter and then tweaked the diffuse, but I am having a lot of trouble getting accurate results with this method with this project..( although this has been for models for a RTS game )
The other way open to me at the moment is baking out a high poly which I really do not have time for at the moment unfortunately.
I have already tired to photosource a pattern for the tyre tread but always at slight angles that I cannot get away with PS transform.
Can anyone/developers shed some light on how they go about texturing tyre treads? The annoying part is it has to meet with the the rest of the normal on a broken UV shell. Ie, the side face is broken from the tread shell.
@ The thread as a whole. Things are progressing slowly. This will however get completed whatever it takes I Will update soon.

If it were me, I would make a pattern overlay.
Step 1.
Open a photoshop document with a square the same width the tyre is (i.e 50 pixels x 50 pixels)
Step 2.
Make a tiling tyre tread, or source one from a photo. be sure to make it black and white.
step 3.
Go edit>define pattern, call it whatever you like.
Step 4.
Make a new layer that fits the tyre you want to texture.
Step 5.
Make a basic colour (i.e brown and black) on the tyre.
Step 6.
Right click on the layer and go blending options.
Step 7.
In the window thing it opened up, find pattern overlay. Click on the box that says "pattern" and select the pattern you just defined.
Step 8. Adjust opacity of the pattern to make it look real ish.
And it should look ok. I would make a tutorial thing but i cant really be bothered

Going off what you have said and how i'm assuming you have it set up and don't want to re UV it, the best way would be to draw the shapes you need manually and duplicate them as needed, placing them on the top and the parts you need on the side.
Then the trial and error will start to try and get the side to be seemless with the top, but seeing as you'll have all the parts seperate it will be easy to shuffle them about.
Photo source won't work unless you manage to aquire a ASLAV tyre cut it in half and flatten it
In the time it would take to get a 'defined pattern' similar to the ASLAV's tyre tread that works properly for normals/diffuse for the top and side you would have it done the manual way I reckon.
All that said by far the best way to do this would be too do them in highpoly and bake them.
I knocked this up might be able to help you with the shapes if your feeling really lazy ; I made the black & white and normal using photoshop and crazybump just then, the ingame ones where from a highpoly bake. (kanga's model)

Name sorted. With Tim's agreement the BigD community ran a poll for the name and decided on Bruce.

Thanks again Tim

I hate being a peanut-gallery lobbyist, but any chance the LAV-AT and LAV-AD could be modeled after the -25?
There are more than 700 LAVs in the Marine Corps inventory today, fielded in one of seven different configurations.
You will note there is no mention of LAV-ADs as I believe they were mothballed a few years back after several Iraq deployments due to lack of threat from enemy aircraft in current conflicts.

^ This, eagerly awaiting the finished product, mainly so it can be added for the USMC as soon as possible.
