- Super-ultra-high tech knifes: Cannot open a door? No problem, destroy it with your knife, don't waste you time with your gun, use the knife!
You could open a door whit a knife in PR if they wanted to add it (very very unrealistic)
- Ultra big maps, about 500x500 mts each one!!
Big?....
- Incredible physics with amazings houses made of plasticine
Any building can be made destrcutable in BF2 and arma2
- No, that guy who killed you with a headshot from the other side of the map is not a cheater, no..
- Grenade spam for everyone!
Can be done in any game if someone actually wants it in
- 4, or even 5, vehicles at the same time!!
Arma2 can have hundreds of vehicles? (probly thousands)

So, i cannot understand the reason why pr team didn't choose frostbite engine.....
No mod tools and nothing special (the destructions nice and it looks cool but not good enough for a good mil-sim game)

mmm... as gazzthompson says, i was being sarcastic, i'm an ofp/arma/arma II player, and also bc2, wich is one of the funniest arcade game i ever played, but it's not the best platform for PR :)

I've seen one crippled by a sniper cuz he popped the gunner/commander when they were turned out but NOPE I've yet to see some ****** bunny hop up and kill one with LMG. Im guessing you have....if thats the case please stick with BFBC I dont want people like you in my ARMA 2.

You might want to put some faith in the PR mod team...They didnt get mod of the year in 2009 for nothing. The PR community I know doesnt bash the Devs but thanks them for creating and spending their time making something awesome out of shite (BF2).

They picked Arma2 deal with it.....if you can do better, by all means, go for it.
On arma II v1.00 you can do that, only if you place an empty tank on editor and yourself as a machinegunner, and tons of ammo boxes....

On arma II v 1.05 you can't do it, BIS added the "minimal dammage impact" feature, wich means that if you don't have an enough powerfull weapon you can damage a vehicle. And ACE (don't know if it's fully implemented or not) has added recently a proper damage system, with penetration values instead of default BIS hitpoints.

UGGGGGGHHHHHHHH you'd better have a good reason why it wouldn't work on the BFBC2's Frostbite
no tools to mod for it to start with. Compared to ARMA it is still very small scale too. Personally I dont feel that BFBC2 is particularly realistic.

ARMA's engine can have (as you put it) "Full Physics", it just is more work than its worth for BIS. The realism will stem from much more than just physics anyway. The engine allows for far more than most in terms of modding something in. Generally the answer to any question of "can it be done?" is a yes for ARMA.
Like when you can take out a t-92 with sustained light machine gun fire, yet an anti tank rocket from above doesn't destroy it.
From what I understand you can tell a calibre of bullet/shell to have no effect on a vehicle so lmg fire wont damage a tank.

For those who said that ARMA-2 uses an old engine. See the following videos (all gameplay footage, no special effects, no special editing, just pure gameplay) to understand why ARMA 2 can bring the real war atmoshere and feeling in your Screen if -off course- the programmers and mod creators do a good job :

ARMA 2 :
YouTube - Arma 2 "Afghan Village Gameplay"

ARMA 2 :
YouTube - ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead announced ?

ARMA - 1 (the older engine - looks like real war is on your screen as you see it on TV, really no difference and its arma-1 engine ;) ) :

YouTube - Arma - Avgani

and if you want to see the real capabilities of ARMA 2 engine (needs good programmig) look trailers or video like this (with some real (!) footage) :
YouTube - ARMA 2 Chernarussian Movement Of The Red Star

lets hope that the great PR team, who has already done an excellent job with BF2, will continue this way.

For all of you thinking about upgrading your PC. Here are my Pc Specs
RAM:5 gigs (nvidia SLI sertified)
CPU:AMD Athlon 64 x2 3.1Ghz Dual Core
GPU:BFG GTX 285 OC
HDD:1Terribite Berrecuda
CASE:Cooler Master Scout
SOUNDCARD:Motherboard HD realtech Audio
MOTHERBOARD: XFX 750a SLI

When i run Arma II on full specs.....I lag :( . I have even overclocked my card to see if it helped, which it didnt  . If you are wanting to run this on high for its true buety. Make sure you go beyond my rig's Specs. Im hoping to get another BFG GTX 285 oc to run 2way Sli and a AMD Pheneom quad core 2.8

Something is obviously wrong. i run arma2 on all high settings with AA set to normal without lag on this rig:

CPU: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor 3.2GHz
GPU: ATI Radeon HD4890 1gb
RAM: 4gb DDR3 1600
MB: GA-MA770T-UD3P

You must post your 3d resolution, if you have it a 200% or something similar, here you have the reason why you cannot play arma II :)

For those who don't know what 3d res make, it renders the image at X% of the resolution you set on the options and then it reescalate the image to show it on your monitor, so, if you have a res of 1680x1050, and you set the 3d res at 200%, you are rendering the image on this settings: 3360x2100. As you can see, it has a big impact on performance

I have :

PC - Core to Duo 2.6Ghz (overcloced at 3.4 GHz)
ASUS 5PNE m/b
4 GB Ram DDR-2 800mhz
250 GB hard disk 7200rpm
275 GTX - 896 MB

ARMA-2 run smooth enough with no problem. However I believe that if I adjust some parameters as txalin said, performance may be much better. But I m not sure how to adjust them. So, you dont need to spent a lot of money for a new high-end PC with 4 or 104 processor cores :) to run ARMA... ARMA-2 can run smoothly even at a core 2 duo machine with no problem. You just need a good graphic card, 2 or 4 GB memory and thats all. And off course good parameters settings, which is not very clear how to change them.

For those who have experienced a low performance at CTI mission, its not only the Arma or their PC but the server who has to deal with 32 players x 12 units/player = 384 + more than 100 resistance guards = at least 500 online units !!!!!!

calumhm wrote:can someone explain to me why you chose Arma 2, which admittedly does actually have more realism than Call of Duty or something that's retarded, over Battlefeild Bad Company 2?

BFBC2 being the only game that has the final step in realism, FULL PHYSICS. But no, you chose Arma 2, the game on the 10 year old engine, that has about 1 in 30 buildings with any degree of destructability.

You could have made the ultimate PR, the most realistic game ever. But no, you want it so that I can hide behind a plank or a dustbin or something and not be affected by explosions of any scale.

I'm sure you wanted Arma 2 for it's draw distance and the "realism" that Arma 2 already has.

Like when you can take out a t-92 with sustained light machine gun fire, yet an anti tank rocket from above doesn't destroy it.

haha oh my god

You do know that BFBC2 isnt moddable? And sure some of the phycsics in BFBC2 is good, but it cant compete with ARMA2 in moddability at all.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.
"Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without an accordion. All you do is leave behind a lot of noisy baggage."

Lets see, KILLER has 3.1 GHz dual core CPU, you have 3.2 GHz quad core CPU. KILLER has single fast GPU, you have as fast GPU as him, but you also happen to have two of them. So, you have practically twice as powerful rig as. No wonder you can run ARMA much smoother ;)

It's only my CPU that's better and i only have one HD4890, the rest of his system has better specs.

check this thread with others running it high on lower specs

OMFG! You can't be serious.

Wow, I am suddenly inspired and re-motivated to finish my 2 sound mods for ArmA2; CSMv2 and CSMv3 Modules and revamping CSMv1 for ACE.

woohaaa!!

Oh yeah, and finish up for PR. I haven't touched that for some time since I started working full time, real life has me by the balls ladies and gents.
