Re: IPv6 Fix

napstrike wrote:Dear friends;
If you are getting this error because of your IPv6 settings, DO NOT DISABLE IPV6. Some web sites, including this site can not be accessed if you disable it. There is another, much better fix on Microsoft's site:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2533454

Select "Prefer IPv4 over IPv6" from the link, and run the setup, then restart your PC when it asks you to do so.

How it works:
Windows 8 prefers IPv6 over the IPv4 by default. If you make it prefer IPv4 over the other, PR will launch without any problem, and you will still be able to view sites that use IPv6.
Thanks so much dude. Have been having the 1301 error for a while now. I am so happy to get it working again.

Thanks so much. Really helpful.

The Error 1301 issue has no single master fix. I suggest you go through this thread as well as the other one and try EVERYTHING listed as a fix. Don't feel like you aren't tech savey or too lazy to do anything because we have Google and YouTube for a reason. I skipped over my fix which was simply flipping my DNS to google's public DNS. If you haven't heard of ths fix try this: How to change IPv4 DNS server address to public DNS in Windows? - Microsoft Community
But instead of "8.8.8.8" change it to "8.8.4.4"

FWIW, I had the same error until I recently managed to solve it (fingers crossed it doesn't magically reappears). The solution was:

- Whitelisted all relevant .exes for Bitdefender's firewall (didn't solve it)
- Installed newer version of .NET framework (didn't solve it)
- Switched to DNS Google's public DNS (didn't solve it)
- Installed DX9 and C++ package linked in the installation guide (solved !!)

I really hope the problem won't reappear as it was rather frustrating finding a fix...

dll files are correct:

Unlike executable programs, like those with the EXE file extension, DLL files can't be run directly but instead must be called upon by other code that is already running. However, DLLs are in the same format as EXEs and some may even use the .EXE file extension. While most Dynamic Link Libraries end in the file extension .DLL,

If you don't want to use VPN, try installing the latest drivers from your LAN.

I don't know, what can cause it, but I had the same problem and I solved it like this
