Ever thought of "The Beast" ? :D See the GFX Card on top of this list... (Just took BF3 as a DX 11 example...)

Beating the 780 Ti (at least in this game)... :D For JUST 437 UK-bucks (free delivery)!!

OR just get the 780 Ti for 550 bucks (only 3 GB though)...

Here all others (scroll down): http://www.idealo.co.uk/mscat.html?q=780+Ti

OR I'd just say go with max. 600 UK-bucks and run two GTX 770 in SLI, each 2 GB VRAM, that should be 4 GB together, more performance than 780 Ti, 1 GB more VRAM, and more powerhungry (instead of 250 Watts with two 770 it is 460 Watts)... :p ;)

I recommend the Gainward Phantom (silent!), but you can choose here:

You PSU should be strong enough for any dual-SLI set-up.

OR Rhino, and UBER Palit Titan Black (Yes, not white! o_O ) for just 700 pounds! :)

HOLY 6 GB GDDR5

"Memory Amount - 6144MB
Memory Interface - 384bit
Memory Clock - 3004MHz (DDR 6008MHz)
CUDA Cores - 2688
Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec) - 288.4"

Not sure though if overkill for you, but if this price isn't an issue... go ahead! :)

Just FYI: " Supplementary Power Connectors - 6-pin X1 8-pin X1" (But sure your PSU will support that)

from ebuyer (delivery free ofc.) :

The MARS is still only 2GB of effective VRAM, its the same as running 2x 760s in SLI, aka 2GB per card and therefore they are still VRAM limited. You would need 2x 4GB 760s to get an effective 4GB of VRAM, and then you are memory bus width limited. IMO, an R9 290 is a good choice, driver support is getting progressively better for the GCN 1.1 cards yknow... In raw game and OpenCL performance, the 290 murders the 770 for days.

PhysX has been dead for 2000 years, and I do admit ShadowPlay is quite neat. Still no decent crypto mining, OpenCL performance or MANTLE support (that will probably be AMD's PhysX gimmick TBH) for Nvidia lol :p

Anyways, I think for raw gaming performance, a properly cooled 290 will demolish the 770, the latter of which is a two year old card that was pretty much outclassed by the slightly older 7970 on release day.

Nope, 770 beats 7970... ;)

Also, 770 is 1 year old, not two...

Its a rebadged 680 (just like the 280X is a rebranded 7970GHz and I was referencing the fact that the 680 could not fully take care of the 7970), 7970\280X beats it in OpenCL while 770 has the advantage with PhysX and Shadowplay. In games they trade blows, usually 1-2FPS in favor of another. When the resolution steps us the Tahiti cards start to clean up with the 770. For pure gaming, choose whatever is cheaper. If you want to do heavy rendering\compute\folding@home, go 7970, and if you want to record and stream with less of a performance hit, go 770.

If you only googled and clicked first link after searching "770 vs. 280x" then you would find GPUboss comparison which is HEAVILY biased against Red team.
https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=c ... 0vs%20280x

That comparison was run with a 850mhz 280x card...what 280x card runs at 850mhz? NONE of them.

Also, most newer intel processor should have QuickSync which should help with streaming.

Bit of a Bumpy of this topic, still haven't got a new GFX card or made any upgrades from when I first made it over a year ago now :p

Same sort of deal as before, same specs etc, just with the newest range and prices of GFX card.

My budget is around 300 GBP ($450) and again, looking the best value for money card really that is going to do me quite a few years, like my current GTX260 which I got over 6yrs ago for 174 GBP and its worked out at 30 GBP / yr, don't expect this card to last me 10 yrs but at least over 5 :)

Currently I'm looking at this "Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4GB GDDR5" which I've heard good things about but want to make sure its the right card for me, if there is any others to consider and if it will work with my current mobo etc :)

Cheers! :D

I recommend EVGA! Good prices for SC, SSC and FTW versions at least in Europe currently! :)

EVGA best NV cards by far, especially with their customer support. When my 580 died, I RMAd it and it was back to me in less than 3 days.

Cheers, so I take it you guys would recommend this EVGA one over the Gigabyte one?
EVGA GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0 4GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card - Ebuyer

Looking at the basic stats the EVGA dose look a little better in terms of clock speeds etc.

And probably the ACX 2.0 cooling is more silent than Gigabyte.

Got any decibel readings on that and also has anyone got any good reviews of both models and any other GFX cards I should be considering?

I remembered you were looking at a 970 when I saw this post... I didn't know about it but it seems like the 3.5GB segmented memory issue may be something to consider

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f11-of ... ost2054272

Edit: Upon more research, it seems like it won't be an issue

Yes, for me also not an issue, although I now wait for price drop since Nvidia kept that memory issue secret...

That is some BS. They advertize a card as a 4gb VRAM not saying anything about this, and then when people see that something is wrong, as it having and reporting only 3.5GB they come out in media and get "technical" about it. Not so many games utilize all 4GB so you dont need it ( ORLY?) - I read trough those lines. And even if it did use it, we have placed a shitty 0.5 GB module which is in fact faster than your system ram but its **** when used by GPU and causes performance drops ( FPS drops )!!!

Bottom line, it would not cause performance issues if they used a quality high speed piece of VRAM module for that last 0.5GB. What they did instead is fraud. Sell the card as 4GB and advertise it as such, and then when the shit hit the fan, they go out and explain how good in fact is that for you!?

Whino, you're not half the whino I am, after I saw this. I would stay away from this, and entire gtx9XX series.

I just bought a "MSI GTX 960 Gaming 2G".
This 220 euro card is about 50% faster than my GTX570.
Good enough for PR and most other full hd games.

This best thing is, the fans are OFF when you're just on the desktop because the
idle power draw is very low.

I love my 970. I use it with 550W PSU and while idle, my PC consumes 60W average, while gaming 230W max. That is truly amazing.

If anyone wishes, I can make thread about my new rig. ;)
