Why doesn't project reality add a military rank system to the game? That way it would be easier to identify new players in the team, and there would be a ranking system and compensation for players who play and run their squads well.

Excellent idea. Vanilla BF2 supported ranking so I suppose it is very doable if theres will and resources for that.
