I imagine they'll just use the M1A1 model from USI.

It looks sort of like it would interfere with working parts, look at the commanders .50, could the charging handle even move?

Looks exactly like swede/norwegian cam with those trippy shapes.

anglo do you have a source on the life extension program? I'd like to see what other changes are being made to the LAV.

as a addition to this, i have it on good authority 1cav is trialing a varley built gunshield and crew protection add on kit, i dont know what it looks like but it's supposed to give the commander a procted firing position.

also a light khonesberg(i cant remember how to spell) RWS has been spotted on both the m1 and aslav(25mm equiped lav25). whether these are going to be in service i dont know , but it's some thing to think about.

A number of M1A1 have progressed through an urban warfare upgrade under project Land 907 – described as Australian version of the tank urban survivability kit (TUSK). The kit comprises ‘Abrams’ Reactive Armour Tile (ARAT) sets to provide additional protection against rocket-propelled grenades and other similar closerange threat systems. A remote
thermal sight also enables the M1A1 crew commander to employ his 12.7mm machine gun
from under armour, and a loader’s varley armoured gun shield protects the turret crew during operation of the externally mounted loader’s machine gun.

haha, thats a good question acctually.

From memory we have 59 M1A1 tanks Bakehouse.

I know there is plenty of promo vids of them floating around but they're all taken during training as far as I can tell. Have any of our M1A1s acctually seen active service yet?

no, no active service to date, there is a possibility this may change in a year or so, ADF liaison officers have embedded with American forces for some time, and very recently with Canadian forces too. this is generally considered a precursor to deployment. ie: ARH, chinooks ect....

latest on M1A1SA (that's the official designation for our tanks)

The new tanks, which we’ll refer to as “M1A1-SA” in future, will have gear added including:

Blue Force Tracking and Force Battle Command Brigade and Below (FBCB2), which shows the positions of friendly forces and identified enemies on a computer screen.
2nd-generation FLIR sights. for both main and secondary armaments
Driver’s vision enhancements. This include BAE System’s DVRC rear-view thermal camera. power distribution box including all the associated electronics in this modification.
A rear slave receptacle. the auxiliary power receptacle is used to start a vehicle when its batteries are unable to supply starting current.
A tank-infantry phone that is mounted on the outside of the tank, and can be picked up by accompanying infantry. (This modification has been used on tanks for decades, but was left out of the M1.)
Enhanced hybrid power train capability, integrated digital data transfer capability and SATCOM communications suite, and Saab Barracuda thermal and optical reduction components. bulldozer blade/obstacle clearance capability

add to that the previously mentioned enhancements.

yes it's me just another RL update.

quite a few (lots but not all) ADF m1a1-sa are recieving new coats of paint. they are getting the standard TRI-colour pattern, why this could be i cant say. but you can never tell if part of the unit might be getting sent to AVI in order to deal with the NL withdrawal.

this also includes the hercs.

The Canadians were started long before the Aussies, there is a lot of work that goes in to making a faction for PR and the main Devs have been busy with real life so undates have been few and far between recently.

Now Tonnie get back to work ;)

The canister rounds are some sick ones. 120mm shotgun basically

The danish Leopard 2s in Afghanistan have canister rounds with them IIRC. Haven't heard any reports of them using them though.
