Give this a try.

You must have the tools you have already, the ones you have in the screenshot above, the link is the necessary tools that add onto the other ones.

When animating 3D ironsights, is there a way to determine if they're going to be in the center of the screen in-game? Because I tried animating those and though I was near center, they were still still off.

The bone set up seems a little strange, when i render the animation, some parts goes transparent.

Hey I started the tutorial. What I want is 3D Iron sights to include in Project Normandy, so I would just like to know how to do it. Since all the animations used in Project Normandy are fine for now I would only like to know how to have 3D iron sights, it's the main goal here, animations can wait. Any directions?

Gents.......

If you are new to Max. I suggest you go here...
3D Buzz Video Tutorials
...and do the max fundamentals course. I have spent the last few months doing maya classes with these guys and they are very discript and clear. I'm not certain but because of how old the videos are, I think the max fundamentals are free to watch from their site now. And no, just because its an older version, it doesn't change anything. same with maya, im using a later version than they use in their video but its all the same. You dont need to know all the awkward technical bits if your a beginner.

Though I haven't yet done the max fundamentals, I know that it is the same teachers that do my maya course and they are worth listening to.

I say this because if you are new to max, you will most likely have to have a good few hours of mucking about in the program first to become acquainted with what Chuc is doing in the tutorial. He doesn't teach you max, he shows you HIS METHOD. that's different. So if you are like me, going and watching tutorials, trying to learn how a program works, its not going to work, your going to hear a lot of opinions and conflicting ideas, and in the long run it will do more harm than good. So i highly recommend you do a fundamentals course first and invest time in learning how the program works properly before lunging head first into a very shallow puddle.

It depressed me to follow the tutorials because i wasnt armed with the correct knowledge, and having done 100+ hours of classes of maya I am revitalised and when Ready i can attempt the max fundamentals.

I hope my perspective is of some assistance.

What Psyko said is completely true, and I highly suggest following his advice and get acquainted with Max as a program before moving on with my tutorials. I'll be dropping heaps of jargon like hierarchy, IK solvers, constraints and things that to any layman might confuse the hell out of (even myself sometimes :P ), so get familiar with Max then jump back into my guides.
