- made in ~1 month
No wai, you're a genius, I never seem to get anything done :(

1. Because we don't have a Russian aircraft carrier static
2. I'd assume it would be easier to sneak in the invasion force in civilian ships

It's a lot of work to make a new ship model...
Let's not ask too much of our dear Devs

Think of it this way: Maybe there was a Russian force stationed somewhere on the coast of the Mediterranean. The call comes through to the CO from Moscow that the IDF are moving on Beirut and that they are to be stopped. Now, since the commander has nothing to transport his troops to such a location with, he comandeers a civilan freighter along with it's Captain and crew, tethers the helicopters at his disposal to the deck and sails for Beirut.

I have a more realistic story. BF2 Editor: File > Import > Cargo Ship Mesh. Mapper places ship in sea on Beirut and the community get what they are bloody given ;)

no disrespect, but i'm not liking this.
my first reaction is that the roads are too broad and it's too empty. what were your reference pictures?

i've got a friend who has relatives in beirut and she didn't feel as if the screenshots were a representation of beirut at all. she sent me some typical streets of beirut (click them):

most roads in the city are small like that. the houses in the maps should be a lot tighter. i think the little town area @ jabal al burj is more like beirut.

As far as I remember, the map only got the name 'Beirut' after it was done. As in, not mapped with any references.

i refuse to believe that. what would be the point of that? with other maps like muttrah having such a lush portfolio of reference pictures.

Just checked, when Deer showed the map for the first time in the DEV forums it was just called Dirtytown.

why has every map to be a exact rebuild of an existing locaton? muttrah is the only one that build like that, all other maps show areas like that and not certain places

ok. so deer didn't have any directions? he just made an urban map he'd like to play?
then who in the world thought "hey, this looks like beirut!" and purposed that name? what were his reference pictures?
why does anyone take anything so literally ? its a game ! its fictive
sure, then let's call the tar-21 rifle "famas". it's still just a fictive model made in a computer, right?

not "exact", and because everything else in the mod seems to bear a resemblance to its real life counterpart.

Why waste your time debating a name?

Deer, my head is literally exploding knowing you did this in 1 month. Great job!
