Just_A_Thought wrote:I have mixed feelings about the 5 minutes. As an insurgent on Archer, I got a rifleman kit off a dead Canadian. A little while later I got killed (village on the west side), but it wasn't far from a spawn point, so I could go back to where I died, kick my carcass, and get the Canadian kit back. This happened about 3 times (I tend to die a lot on insurgency!). It feels a little dirty, thinking back on it now. On the other hand, it's pretty common to tell squadmates to pick up important/limited kits if you go down. (I could have let others in my squad know there was a kit to be picked up, but pretty much everyone had obtained a Canadian kit by that time.)

So if re-spawning to find/reclaim a kit is sketchy to me, I'm certainly for banning anyone doing what the OP said.
In real life guns don't just disappear off somebody after they die.

I think the 5 minutes is fair (in real life weapons dont disappear lol) but what you described seems pretty cheap and low for a player to do. If anything Id hope that one day HAT kits are made unusable by insurgents

I do believe a new system should be in the works, like making the kit disappear quickly (Suitably before the spawn time for switching) if the so member teamswitches.

But until that happens, this and similar tactics will be treated as ghosting and will be dealt with on the Virginia PR v0.9 Mixed server.

In real life people don't respawn 30 secs after death.

Ye they should as insurgents dont have the proper training and stance techinuqies to fire it safely.

Just like here YouTube - Recoil of an RPG i know the guy isnt an insurgent but he dosent have the correct techinique so he falls back know think what would happen to an insurgent if he was to fire somthing much more powerful (HAT)

It's called realism, in real life if you kill someone/if they collapse, you can take their weapon. :-|

In real life I don't shoot people becouse I think it is fun. It's a game.

Although I like that the kits stay. It makes being ins funnier.

But then again, does a insurgent know how to operate a Heavy, complex Anti-Tank Rocket, and be able to go back to his cache and reload it?

Maybe they make it unable to reload HAT/LAT at caches. That they need to go to enemy supply crates. Because now they leave the crates behind, but if you do it in RL the insurgents while have a lot of American weaponry. (So we have to think where to drop supply crates/ and destroy them before you move on.)

We shouldn't go for shortening kit disappear time because of this exploit. I think this option is too valuable for reality sake compared to could be exploited that comes with it.

I think this exploit is very similar to Blufor using chat like TS and a spy on Insurgent side to figure out chache location.

Also this sounds like something game hosts can control this very easily.

Please god no! No lame game mechanics to stop these exploits, please!. Don't punish us all for the stupidity of a few. It's bad enough we already have wait times after joining squads, and warmup times on armor, etc. I know there are good reasons for these things, but it all boils down to retarded players, finding any possible way to play the game incorrectly.

The answer is exposing those who use these exploits, get them banned, and spread the word to other admins.

It would be amazing to have a group like "PR Server Admins Coalition" or something along those lines, that keeps a database of idiot players who are banned. And a place to submit a complaint (with evidence) for the coalition to look at and determine if a player needs removal from the game. And maybe even a punkbuster type system that servers can subscribe to that auto-bans players who were banned in other servers in the group.

Know what I think would be cool... (I saw someone say that kits don't disappear after a person dies in real life...) If someone in my squad is killed, I could pick up his kit (without dropping mine) and get rid of it. Because in real life they wouldn't leave gear on the field...

probably not possible on the bf2 engine I suppose.

The 5 min kit is good, but it could be less in INS game mode.

The reason it is 5mins is because that's how long it takes for a wounded soldier to bleed out and die. It's supposed to encourage people to wait for the medic to come and heal them, even if it takes 4mins and 30seconds for him to get there, because your sniper kit will still be sitting on your body.

I think that should hamper a permanent ban from all PR servers. That's downright cold to pull a move like that. I've switched teams once because it was 20v10, and the server admins weren't switching anybody. They tried to kick me until I explained why I did it.

why a regular army soldier request a HAT kit in an insurgency map anyways? the most powerful vehicle for ins is an apc, dont need a HAT to destroy an apc, besides if you are carrying a HAT and you get shot your squad should be able to "protect" the kit (or most HAT kits fans are lone-wolf idiots?), how many kits are request-able in game 1- 2? personally i dont know what is the big deal with the HAT kit

AT-4's have the instructions printed on the side of the rockets. As do the LAW's. Javelin, no. SRAW, I wouldn't be surprised if they could find them on the interweb.

The Taliban have a field manual of how to strip, clean, and operate all weapons, saw it in that BBC doco on the Pakistani troops near Waziristan. How to build IED's as well, wouldn't be surprised if there was one for the Iraqi insurgents.

LudacrisKill wrote:ghosting is when you tell or get told things about the enemy team from a guy on their side.

So clans usually get accused of ghosting when some of the clan is on a different side than the other.

Typical ghosting is usually "cache is in b3-4, in the T-building" or something like that.
Used to do that all the time as a Civilian in the first version with Insurgency, never ended well cause I just get sniped off a building haha
DOnt do that now since I'll get shot rather than followed
Mostly it was for the roleplayness on the part of being a civilian since some civis will talk while otehrs dont, but since the civi has become collaborator, it gets rid of that definition. And looking backl on it, wasnt a really nice thing to do
