Try watching the thread full of videos I posted recently: Very Tactical, Very Frustrating. To show what TG is all about.

Re: what makes a Tactical Gamer?
So you know and play with every single TG member ?
And all of them, including me, have a "monkey up my butt" ?
The chat rules suit those who pay for the server so it is simply a case of voting with your feet and going to another server.
Now is the part where you call me an elitist because I want to play a certain way and that way doesn't include an excess of immature behaviour.
The irony is that to be part of that elite is so simple, just play by the rules.
The easy answer is for you to pay for your own server, run the way you like it.
But can you understand why some of the rules are in place ?
You don't like how the server is admin'd so you insult the members and make broad and innaccurate generalizations about our behaviour ?
Gee......I wonder why people would ever yell at you ?

Re: what makes a Tactical Gamer?
Now hold on.
I didn't say that I was the guy that screams "FAIL LOLOLOL"
No, I'm far from it, I'm merely pointing out the fact that people TK and do more reckless things then someone saying "FAIL LOLOLOL"
And frankly i barely get yelled at, its usually at someone else, I usually just keep my mouth shut and play.
And I never called you an elitist, if yo uwant to waste money over a video game, have fun, its just a waste of money imo. You could spend it on a lot better things.
And to say that TG is the only place without immaturity is a lie, i play on tons of servers, and i don't have a problem, if there is best thing to do is ignore it, doesn't involve you why bother getting involved, chances are you aren't wanted to anyway. And that would be my biggest problem with TG, is the players, the yhave to have there say in everything, in fact that is annoying.

Re: what makes a Tactical Gamer?
TG is one of the best, but by no means the only teamwork oriented server.
I personally think it's because players there typically find what they're looking for in regards to teamwork. I find the whole "kicking for paying member" shenanigan a bunch of BS. Especially when you are piloting a full squad.
That's what I love about the HARDCORE server. They wont kick even for their head guys, you've just gotta wait your turn, just like everyone else regardless if you paid the payment for the server for the whole month. They wont team switch you for anyone either. I find myself team switched and kicked time and time again while in TG.
Also one last complaint,
I hopped in mumble and asked, "what team is this and what map?" simple question.
In return I got from 2 different people "its on karkand and this is russia/militia"
followed up by "no it's on blah blah blah(once again joking with me"
I say "thanks for the help) (sarcasm).
I ask one more time, "what map, what team"
and lectured on how "its rude to intrude with your questions"
My question could have been summed up as "this map______, this team___"
I find that the stupid and sarcastic answers made it into something that was rude and intrusive.
Not my simple question.
If I would have heard a lot of vocal activity on mumble I would have simply waited til I got in the server. But I did not, just a bunch of chatter about non game related stuff.
So no TG is not the best. But it is good, until you get kicked for someone who pays.

Re: what makes a Tactical Gamer?
I agree with you about Mumble.
It takes only a moment to tell a joining playing what faction it is and some people do get upset about it.
I don't think anyone is saying TG is the best or the only server to play on.
It has it's own features and to me those features are worth $9/month.
I had the habit of getting out of the helicopter when I started seeing supporting member kicks because I didn't want to kill a whole squad so since I like flying, I paid and it has been worth every penny to me.

1) If you're out of game, PRSpy can answer all of those questions.guru951 wrote:Also one last complaint,

2) If you're in game, at the server browser, server info can answer all of those questions.
3) If you're loading in, you can wait until you're loaded and then look at the player list.
Just because mumble is quiet does not mean at all that there is nothing going on. More often than not, I get interrupted twice a game when I'm trying to listen for enemy infantry/enemy armor, when it's extremely easy to figure it out in only a few seconds without asking anyone.
Help those that help themselves and all that.
I'm allowed to be cranky if you're allowed to be lazy. Deal with it.

Guru, that sounds like a joke... Anyone could do that. Meaning, I don't think this has anything to do with TG.

Re: what makes a Tactical Gamer?
Probably because it's one of the only North American servers that isn't 24/7 the same map and it has a community that is good at communicating with their squads. It doesn't seem that serious to me, but maybe I'm more of a serious gamer. *shrugs*
I also like it because the majority of the server is on mumble. Mumble isn't the same when only half the people in the server are using it.
And for those complaining about making room for supporting members what do you expect? They probably couldn't even run the server without donations.

Re: what makes a Tactical Gamer?
this is still not answering the question.
i admit, there are people who play the game as its meant to be played, but there are others that dont. why is it that the ones who want to play the game right, dont collect in another server? why do they scatter and end up mixing with the others, leading to frustration for everyone?

Re: what makes a Tactical Gamer?
I understand the opinions here, it just happens that TG is geared toward the less trash talking, and yes, slightly more seriuz gameplay - by and large. If people have the opinion we all have a stick you know where, well, I'm sorry they had a bad experience but that's not how we roll most of the time ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

Re: what makes a Tactical Gamer?
I definitely do not think all TG have sticks up their butts. That would be a ridiculous statement.
I understand that TG is a business first, community second. That's an awesome business that I could only have wished to have founded myself.
I bet the $9 is worth it's weight in gold. I have had great games in TG. And yes of course the mumble server is not a representative of TG.
If you think that there is no other server with equal levels of teamwork, than you sir are wrong! Mumble is not a necessity of teamwork, ventrilo works great too. One thing I love about the TG server is that they play most game modes and different variants on each map. It's always unexpected and I like that. But you can find good, knowledgeable players who are down for some serious games.

I hope this is going to clear things up...d1sp0sabl3H3r0 wrote:The money doesn't just go for a reserved slot on the PR server. TacticalGamer is a huge community with over 20,000 registered forum users, multiple game titles and a ton of benefits that are provided free of charge. The cost of hosting all of these titles, forums, etc. is absolutely huge, with literally terrabytes of bandwidth being used each month by the community. The SupportingMembership program is what pays for the community and allows everyone to enjoy all of it for free. One of the perks that you receive when you support the community with your wallet is the ability to log on and play when you want. This would seem to make perfect sense and would seem to be a fair compromise.

Re: what makes a Tactical Gamer?
Yeah... TG hosts many servers for a bunch games. PR happens to be one of it's biggest but they also run...
ArmA2 (soon to have an ArmA2
R server too),
MoH 2010,
CSS,
L4D1/2,
BF2142,
BF:BC2...
And I'm sure I'm missing some. And no, that's not one server per game. MoH alone has 3 servers, BFBC2 has 2 or 3 servers I believe...
Not to mention the fact that paying them offers some web hosting space, private forum areas, use of in-house squads and the wiki pages and such that come with them...
Paying for TG is more than paying for slots to the server, if you were wondering why it's a bit expensive (in terms of just having a free slot, it sure would be expensive).

Re: what makes a Tactical Gamer?
I'm sorry if I'm mistaken. I've played on other servers and have had great squads and good teamwork within it, however, these points are something I have only seen on TG:
- Multiple Squads working together and communicating together--such as a convoy
- (Bi)Weekly Password Nights
- Internal Scrimmages
- "Blue Mobs" or two or more squads working together in the same area using mumble
- Armor usually supporting infantry and working with them over mumble (instead of going off doing their own thing)
- Squad Leaders working with each other over Squad Leader Mumble
